Gonal f

Hi, I am creating this new thread in addition to being on the clomid one.
Reason for this is because my treatment has taken a slightly different path and have just been prescribed gonal f injections.

Does anyone else have any experience of gonal f or has it been discussed as a treatment option for you?

Would be great to discuss. Smile

@angel2028 - how are things going on the higher dose on Gonal-f? Any side effects? I've felt very nausea since yesterday afternoon ... just want my scan tomorrow now x

angel2028 · 02/09/2018 10:29

@intrigued2018

I haven't noticed any side effects since increasing. I guess I'm still on quite a low dose.

Sorry to hear you're feeling nauseous.

Hopefully all will be well for you tomorrow. Have they spoken to you about the next step x

@angel2028 - i dread to think of the side effects if we end up doing IVF and having Gonal-f in higher quantities.

Next steps for me is for a maximum 3follicles to reach at least 18mm then have a trigger shot to get me to ovulate, do the dance a couple of times, then cross fingers during the two week wait and try not to symptom spot. Think we can only do ovulation induction three times before IVF x

angel2028 · 02/09/2018 11:23

Let's not worry about that at the moment. Sounds like you've had a good response to gonal f and hopefully my follicles will have started to grow again for the scan tomorrow x

intrigued2018 · 02/09/2018 11:33

Exactly... we are just trying to think this cycle will work. Fingers crossed for your positive response tomorrow. What are your next steps? X

angel2028 · 02/09/2018 14:51

We'll see if the follicles have grown again tomorrow. Then try and keep them going so they don't shrink again I guess. I haven't noticed any bloating or tenderness at all so I wonder if I need a higher dose.

X

intrigued2018 · 02/09/2018 17:33

I wouldn't worry, I haven't had any bloating or tenderness either so it doesn't mean it isn't working. Fingers and toes crossed for you tomorrow morning x

intrigued2018 · 03/09/2018 07:47

Good luck this morning@angel2028 x

angel2028 · 03/09/2018 08:32

Good luck to you too @intrigued2018 x

@angel2028 - I hope all went well and your follicles have started responding again to 50iui. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

I had one 18mm and one 17mm follicle today so can do the trigger injection today, dtd tomorrow then pray for a BFP in two weeks! X

angel2028 · 03/09/2018 10:32

@intrigued2018
That's great news!!! Best of luck!! ThanksI'm really pleased for you. How are you feeling?

My follicles are at 9mm but they said to continue with the 50 because they are worried that increasing the dose will overstimulate as I have a high amount of eggs.
Next scan Friday xx

intrigued2018 · 03/09/2018 11:06

Thanks - I'm feeling absolutely fine just want the next two weeks over!

Ah how many follicles did u have? Hopefully the 50 works and by Friday you have some positive results. Thanks xx

angel2028 · 03/09/2018 22:35

There were 2 that measured at 9mm. Hopefully they will carry on growing!
Fingers crossed for you! Try and enjoy the next couple of weeks if you can xx

OP posts:
intrigued2018 · 04/09/2018 15:07

Fingers crossed they continue to grow, I was told that the follicles should grow at 1mm per day.

Im feeling super protective of my stomach and little eggs today - I'm hoping they will be safe and make the journey 🤣🤣 my tiredness levels have been ridiculous since yesterday - I was asleep by 10, woke up at 10.30 today and had an hrs nap this afternoon! Hoping it was the trigger shot and not the progesterone pessaries. X

intrigued2018 · 07/09/2018 13:12

@angel2028 - good luck today, I hope your follicles have started growing xxx

angel2028 · 08/09/2018 00:16

@intrigued2018
Thank you for your message. Had my scan today, no growth unfortunately but I was actually pleased with the outcome as I was worried I would have to start treatment. I though AF had arrived and my lining would be gone.
Luckily there is still some lining, so they have increased the dose today to try and stimulate growth and thicken up lining. It's still a waiting game.

My next scan is on Wednesday.

How are you doing? Are you still feeling very tired or has that passed now? Xx

OP posts:
intrigued2018 · 08/09/2018 10:56

@angel2028 - sorry to hear there was no growth, but good that they have increased your dose. Are you on 75 now? Fingers crossed you respond on the higher dose and the follicles start growing! How you feeling otherwise?

The tiredness has now passed thankfully, The clinic said that was normal though. Lower stomach feels tender and boobs hurt but they are side effects of medicines. I'm making sure I don't google any early pregnancy symptoms and trying not to get too far ahead in my thinking. Need to test on 17th... hoping the time goes quickly x

angel2028 · 08/09/2018 21:34

Thank you @intrigued2018

I'm on alternate day doses so 75 one day then 50 the next and so on. They are not wanting to increase the dose quickly at all as they are worried about overstimulation and then we would have to quit.

Glad the tiredness has passed. I hope the time flies by. Not an easy wait I imagine. Wishing you the best of luck.

How is your partner finding things? X

OP posts:
intrigued2018 · 09/09/2018 21:34

Fingers crossed for Wednesday @angel2028 - how long will they let you injection before making u have a break?

It is a long wait, I'm just blanking it out. I'm not feeling well at the moment due to other illness so hoping that won't impact things. Helping distract my mind though.

My partner is okay, finding it tough at times but so supportive . Such an emotional rollercoaster, this month we've been trying to conceive for a year which has flown by! Trying to hold onto the fact we are luckily the nhs did tests early and didn't have to wait 2years plus could have good news this month. X

angel2028 · 12/09/2018 22:32

Hi @intrigued2018

So I went for scan today. I have one follicle that is 11.5mm. The rest are still at 9mm. They have advised to give 75 gonal f today and tomorrow and then rescan on Friday morning. If the one follicle is growing nicely then will carry on but if not much change then will need to stop and take a break. Will then start again as likely higher dose.
The break will be a few weeks. If that's the case we will have to delay until after our holiday so looking at the beginning of Nov but will know more Friday.

So good your partner is supportive. Mine is too. We're just trying to stay relaxed about it all but easier said than done.

How are you doing today? Xx

Hey @angel2028 - just logged on to send a message to see if there was any update! Great to hear one follicle seems to be growing now, fingers crossed for the scan on Friday and you can carry on! Will have my fingers and toes crossed for you Friday.

I'm all okay thank you, currently unwell in hospital so managing to distract my mind but been a mindfield with tests and medicines as have to tell everyone there is a possibility of pregnancy so some are on hold until we know the result. Can test on Sunday, then if negative retest Tuesday. Life can never be straight forward can it 🤣 x

angel2028 · 12/09/2018 23:27

@intrigued2018

Thank you, will keep you posted on Friday.

No for some reason it is never straight forward🙄

Sorry to hear you're in hospital, hope you get well soon. Sending you all the luck for Sunday!!!!!! Xxx

OP posts:
intrigued2018 · 14/09/2018 11:24

Good luck @angel2028 x

angel2028 · 14/09/2018 11:30

Hi @intrigued2018

Thank you for your message.

Went for the scan this morning. Unfortunately my follicles haven't grown much at all with the current dose of gonal f. We are unable to go any further with this cycle as it risks the egg quality. So we have stopped treatment for the time being.
As we are away for 10 days in October we are going to wait to restart treatment after that.

It's disappointing but just one of those things Onwards and upwards.

How are you? X

OP posts:
intrigued2018 · 14/09/2018 12:55

@angel2028 - sorry to hear that!! I hope you are okay Thanks but at least they know where to start dose wise next time and hopefully that means it's good! Focus on your holiday, the time will fly.

I'm all good, getting nervous about Sunday xx
