Free IVF / Egg Sharing

Hello,
After ttc my 2nd for nearly 3 years, Ive nearly given up hope. Ive started looking into IVF but not sure we can afford it. Ive seen that you can do egg sharing and get free IVF in return. I love the idea of being able to help someone else if I can too.
Has anyone done egg sharing? Smile

I've been an egg share recipient (sadly my cycle was unsuccessful, so I'm currently waiting to be matched with another donor). And I love being able to help someone else afford their treatment and hopefully start their own family!

I haven't done it as I turned out not to be suitable (my test results weren't great and I don't respond well to stims). But I was seriously considering it and did quite a lot of reading.

It's lovely that you want to help someone else have children. I would think very hard about the implications, though. How would you and your partner feel if any genetic children contacted you in 19 years time? Or, if they never did and you never got to find out who they were? Would you be OK if your recipient was successful and you weren't? I'm sure I would have found that very difficult.

What is your clinic's policy if you don't produce enough eggs for both you and the recipient? For example, you might have to pay for the cycle, or you might possibly be given the option of donating all the eggs to the recipient, then having a free cycle of your own (so you'd have to go through this twice).

I'm not saying "don't do it". There are women out there who are happy they did it, but I've come across others who regret egg-sharing. Good luck with your treatment, whatever you decide.

I would love to but apparently I am out of the age bracket for most clinics at 37

I am egg sharing I didnt get free IVF as we needed ICSI but we did get a reduced rate.

We only paid for freezing, ICSI and transfer the rest was covered by receipent.

I managed to get 30 eggs so 15 each but sadly I could not do a transfer straight away. My receipent has and she also has some embryos to freeze... It makes me sad and happy because I am gald someone is getting some where from the hardship but still I am feeling left behind.

I also received counselling and any good clinic will give this before doing it.

It is a lot to consider as it is no longer anonymous but i really wanted to help someome else facing the stresses of fertility issues too
