2 week wait...anyone else?

Hi

I have just had a embryo transfer and due to test on 01/08/18.

This is my 3rd round of icsi, first one failed, second one early miscarriage so I'm very nervous! We also weren't eligible for the 3rd round on NHS so it's cost a lot of money. I'm worried it won't work again and it's going to take a while to save up this money again.

Anyone else on their 2 week wait?

Thanks xx

Hi @lavmc 😀

I'm also in a 2ww at the moment however my situation is different.

I've just had my 3rd round of IUI with donor sperm. No fertility issues that we know of but I'm in a same sex marriage. My wife conceived our son with just 1 cycle of IUI no meds but she did have a trigger shot. She also has PCOS.
I have also had non medicated cycles,, 1st was monitored,, 2nd wasn't. Both BFN.

This time I also had a trigger shot at CD12 with a 18mm folicle. IUI done on Tuesday.

We are both hoping it's 3rd time lucky as we only have 2 units of sperm left and it's important that our children are from the same donor. So if this try fails it's into IVF... and we have practically no savings left now. So will be at least 12months before we can try again.

Trying to stay relaxed and not have too much pressure on myself but it's hard.

Hope we both get a BFP...

I'm not due to test till 7th aug xxx

Hi @2mummie5

Thank you for your message! Fingers crossed for you! It's a nervous time this 2 week wait!!

I have had no symptoms at all and feeling 100% normal. I would have expected to have some symptoms but nothing. What about you? How are you feeling? Any symptoms?

Thinking positive thoughts for us both xx

I was terrible at symptom.spotting the first time round and I pretty much convinced myself i was pg. It only made the BFN eve harder to swallow! So I tell myself not to look for signs any more. I think for most ppl they don't really see any sings in the early stages so I figure it's best to save yourself the added stress Smile

Also , having had a trigger shot this time I may have some "signs" whilst the HCG gets out of my system..

I could drive myself bonkers waiting to get to test day.

We just need to stay positive don't we! Xx

2mummie5 · 26/07/2018 08:04

Can I also ask you... why the ICSI route? Is it purely for medical reasons or is it a better chance of sucess ? My knowledge of IVF and ICSI is somewhat limited xx

Lavmc · 27/07/2018 22:29

@2mummie5 good luck for you, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm not sure the difference between ivf and icsi to be honest but the doctors seem to think icsi have better success rates. I think it is more controlled.

Currently having hot flushes every day...not sure if it's this or the weather though 🤔🤔

Xx

Meeeeee!

I'm a host surrogate for my brother and his wife, using donor eggs. I had a FET of a 5 day blast on 20th, and my ODT is 2nd Aug.
This is our first go at FET after a successful fresh cycle in 2014, resulting in my beautiful niece, who is actually 3 today!

Itwasntmehonest · 30/07/2018 07:23

Isn't ICSI where they inject the sperm directly into the egg, as opposed to just sticking them in a dish together and letting them get on with it Grin They had to use ICSI in our case as the sperm had been frozen in quarantine for 6mths and didn't thaw very well.

Lavmc · 30/07/2018 08:06

@proseccooanda what a lovely thing you are doing for your brother and his wife 😍 congratulations on your niece, and here is fingers crossed to a little baby brother or sister for her. How are you feeling? Any symptoms?

@itwasntmehonest I think you are right actually, my husband's sperm was frozen so not sure if that's why we went down that road. But I do know a lot of people who do icsi with fresh sperm too.

@Lavmc I have a few symptoms...been having cramps pretty much since the day after FET, over the last few days I've had slight nausea first thing, and my (.)(.) have become much more tender (the meds made them a bit sore even before ET, but they're a lot worse now). A random one is that it hurts when I sneeze, which I recognise from my previous pregnancies (I also have 3 of my own) as round ligament pain. I'm feeling very positive Smile

How about you? How are you feeling? Only 2 more sleeps for you!

Cobblestones · 30/07/2018 16:10

Hi ladies - I’m also in the 2ww. I’m over on the July/Aug ivf thread having had a frozen embryo transfer last week. OTD this Friday.

I wanted to ask - is anyone on progesterone injections? I’m taking prontogest and I’m finding them quite difficult with pain in the hips/back and legs.

Sending sticky thoughts to all of you ✨

Proseccopanda · 30/07/2018 17:46

@Cobblestones I'm afraid I can't help on the injections as I'm on progesterone pessaries. Is that an option for you if you're struggling with the jabs?

cannonball8726 · 30/07/2018 19:44

Hey all. Also in TWW after our first cycle of ICSI. OTD next Monday 6th August.

@cobblestones - I'm also on intramuscular progesterone and have pain in pelvis/ back. It hurts when walking! Not fun.

Lavmc · 30/07/2018 21:34

@proseccooanda that is a random one. They all sound like good symptoms though!!

I'm feeling back to normal to say, literally no symptoms so I'm feeling a bit down thinking it hasn't worked...again! Think I might test tomorrow as I can't wait any longer!

@cobblestone sorry I also can't help as I an on the pessaries too. My hips and back were sore over the weekend though...but I have been a bit under the weather so could just be that. Sending good thoughts to you for Friday!

@cannonball8726 how are you feeling?

OP posts:
Cobblestones · 30/07/2018 23:03

Thank you for the responses. I’m also on the pessaries and since the bloods on transfer showed low progesterone they started me on this on top of it.

@cannonball how are you dealing with it? I’m sorry to sound like a whiner but I’m actually finding them really painful. The whole day I’m in pain. I have slight numbness in my hip and pain shooting down to my knee I hope I’m not doing something wrong. Were you given a choice between the IM injections and the SC version? (Tummy jabs)

On a brighter note - the 2ww is going by quickly In the sense I’m not obsessing over every symptom or lack there of.

@lavmc when I went through a stimms cycle the one fellow mumsnetter who got a BFP on the thread I was on was the one who didn’t have any symptoms. So it’s not over till it’s over. 🤞🤞

Wish all of you ladies loads of luck in the coming days.

Lavmc · 31/07/2018 06:14

So I could resist and rested early. Got the faintest 2nd line...

2 week wait...anyone else?
OP posts:
Proseccopanda · 31/07/2018 08:26

@Lavmc that is so not faint!!! Congratulations, and just goes to show that symptoms aren't everything.

@Cobblestones that definitely doesn't sound like much fun Sad Have you tried contacting your clinic to ask if what you're experiencing is normal?

2mummie5 · 31/07/2018 09:08

Congratulations @lavmc you must be thrilled! Xx

Cobblestones · 31/07/2018 12:56

@lavmc congrats!!!! That’s great news!! May I ask how many days post transfer are you? And was it a 5 day transfer?

@prosecco I spoke to the nurse and they’ve asked me to come in. They think I’m doing something wrong as this much discomfort isn’t normal. So going in today..

Lavmc · 31/07/2018 15:55

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments. I'm an delighted but really nervous. We got here the last time then has an early MC.

@cobblestones thank you very much. I an 11 days post transfer. We had 2 embryos transferred on day 3!

Cobblestones · 31/07/2018 16:20

Tigerlily99 · 31/07/2018 17:40

Hi, can I join? Had ET yesterday so still have a way to go. OTD 10 Aug 😬

@cannonball8726- how are you doing?

2mummie5 · 31/07/2018 18:16

Hi @tigerlily99 good luck for you. Is this your first attempt?, hope it all works out well xx

Lavmc · 31/07/2018 19:11

Hi @tigerlilly99 welxome, how are you feeling? X

OP posts:
cannonball8726 · 31/07/2018 21:15

@lavmc Amazing! Congratulations xxx

@cobblestones the bum/ back pain is so much better! My husband massaged the area yesterday and it had helped a lot. Will ask him to do again this evening. How is your pain?

@Tigerlily99 congrats on being PUPO!!! All well here. Really dreading OTD next Monday!

Tigerlily99 · 31/07/2018 21:52

Hi, thanks for the messages @cannonball8726 @lavmv & @2mummie5

@lavmc- congrats on the positive test- that’s amazing!

Commiserations to those having side effects from the progesterone. I’m only on uterogestan, clinic don’t check progesterone either. Slightly wondered if I should have it done but I’ve got really sore boobs since starting the progesterone which I normally get on a cycle around the time it would go up naturally so I’m fairly confident I’m absorbing it!

I feel fine at the moment, it’s been a bit hectic at work and few minor family dramas so haven’t had time to really dwell on 2WW. This is my second transfer, last one ended up as a pregnancy of unknown location treated with methotrexate back in Feb. as long as I don’t have that again I’ll be good!

Hope you all have a peaceful evening. X
