I thought I'd summarise my story and give a little hope.
1st cycle - 16 eggs + 12 fertilised + 3 good to transfer

  • 1 transferred ending in mc @7wks
  • 2 transferred frozen ending in mc @5 wks
2nd cycle - 8 eggs + 6 fertilized + 3 good to transfer
  • 1 transferred fresh - horrible gushing bleeding at 7 weeks - STILL PREGNANT - 1 beautiful daughter
  • 1 transferred frozen - bfn
  • 1 transferred frozen - mc @ 6 wks
3rd cycle - 18 eggs!!! 10 fertilised, 1 survived to transfer(??!) didn't think it was worth it as the rest were bad quality despite 3 months of 'body is my temple'/acupuncture. Bled properly period like when period due. STILL PREGNANT! 1 amazing son (only things different here were sex night of transfer and ear acupressure)

I now I find myself pregnant naturally with low sperm count two years after my son was transferred.

I did healthy eating, supplement taking, teetotalling, womb scratches - everything for my ivf cycles.
I drank, ate badly and had sex one frigging time the day before i had egg white and yes, was 'relaxed' and now I'm pregnant. But that's another story. I wanted to say that even if you do have a really disappointing cycle, it really does only take one to work.

I hope this makes someone feel more optimistic as quite honestly - I was distraught for ages after my last cycle as I was so convinced it would fail.

Thank you. From someone who just spent the morning in EPU.

First cycle, 16 retrieved,13 mature, 10 fertilised(ICSI), 4 to blast

Fresh transfer 15day ‘5AB’ = BFN
FET 1
5day ‘3AA’ = CP on OTD
FET 1*5day ‘2BB’ - currently 8w3d, however been scanned 3 times already due to brown spotting/stringy bits and now sudden loss of m/s and sore boobs, was convincrd it heading in one direction but no, strong H/b, growing, and can’t see any source for spotting. Such a long haul when you know so early! I did an endo scratch as part of immune testing before second FET, decided to go ahead with transfer without results, came back normal.

Thanks Sodslawwhhy. Great to hear your story, and congratulations on your latest pregnancy!

Did you use the same clinic for each of your cycles?

Sodslawwhhy · 17/07/2018 13:26

Yes we did. We went abroad to Norway which worked out quite 'cheap'.
Hope you're OK blondie. Spent many hours in epu with every pregnancy. Great there's a strong heartbeat although terrifying having any hint of bleeding. Fingers crossed for a healthy 7 months!

Wow its nice to hear about these stories, I have low ovarian reserve and a slightly high FSH, so most likely will start IVF, I am very nervous. My thinking is I have to try at least

AliceScarlett · 17/07/2018 17:19

Lovely to hear. Thank you. Nice to have some hope.

I've been looking into access fertility and think I've talked DH round. I can't imagine being pregnant after 32 cycles without a hint of a BFP, but then I didn't imagine I'd be doing lots of things that I'm doing now.

hoping2018 · 17/07/2018 18:29

I'm current 12/40 with my first - worked out after so many years of trying and 2 cycles of ivf I had to ovulate 67 eggs to get this baby!

Keep going it can happen! Smile

Hopefully, my story will also help someone.

I was 35, single and had IVF with donor sperm. My total AFC was only 8 or 9 and my AMH was 14.

IVF#1 - cancelled before egg retrieval due to poor response to drugs. I had 1 giant follicle which grew too fast and a few small follicles which didn't grow at all.

IVF#2 - on high doses of drugs, but the cycle still started badly and looked as though it too would have to be cancelled. But a few days later, I had 4 large follicles and proceeded to ER.

6 eggs retrieved, 4 fertilised normally and all 4 became blastocysts. One was top quality, was transferred and is now my beautiful DD. The others were good enough to freeze, although one lagged behind the others and was frozen a day later.

Also, I lost count of the number of times I had spotting/small bleeds during my pregnancy and DD was still fine.

These stories give me hope and inspiration. I'm 35, 6 weeks pregnant after first ivf cycle and today woken up petrified of having a miscarriage it's a constant worry! 😔

I have a low ovarian reserve. I don't want to be negative but i know how this could end with me having to go back to square one. Really hope the Embryo clings on! First Scan is in 2 weeks it's such a worrying time..Confused

Cattenberg · 26/07/2018 18:06

It is nerve-wracking; I remember it well. I think many miscarriages happen before a woman even realises she's pregnant, so you've already made it past the most dangerous time.

Best of luck for your scan. Hopefully, it will confirm that everything is fine.

Sodslawwhhy · 27/07/2018 10:22

Those first few weeks are agony. Time goes so slowly. I hate to tell you that the worry just moves on to something else after though! There's never any peace haha.
It is a massive achievement to have success after your first round though! good luck with your scan.
