Hey everyone, I am new to this site, I joined as I would like to hopefully be a part of a network where there are others in my situation.

Anywho.. My partner and I were recently referred to Guys ACU, we had an initial consultation with a doctor (or I think she was a doctor anyway) and waited to be seen nearly 2 hours passed our allocated time as they were "short staffed", completed an implications counselling session, then scheduled a follow up appointment for 7th August 2018. However, when I asked what the appointment was for, they just said "oh it is a follow up", it is not for counselling as the counsellor said we won't have to see her again unless we feel the need.

Then today, I received a call from the ACU asking about booking an appointment for an initial consultation with a doctor... I am so confused right now, for us this is not a very good start at all.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Guys ACU or even a different clinic? Also, does anyone know what the steps will be approaching IUI using donor sperm?

I really appreciate any form of input, just really fed up already :(

Thank you in advance x x

DS was conceived at Guys and I can honestly say they were brilliant - I know 2 others who feel the same. If I were you I'd email Yacoub Khalaf (the head consultant) with your concerns, he's brilliant and very focused on patient care.

Hey there,

Thank you for your response. I will send him an email and hopefully he can shed some perspective on our current situation.

Did you have IUI or IVF there? If you had IUI, how many cycles did you have to complete before you conceived?

Thanks
Lemon T x

I have spent the last 3 years at Guys and had 3x iui and 2x ivf, I ectopic pregnancy and that’s it. I would pay extra for consultant led care as you then get the consultants mobile number and to see them for every appointment. They were excellent in treating my ectopic too.

However I am still not pregnant starting aged 31 and my odds were very good and they can’t see anything wrong. I could just be very unlucky or they have missed something!!! I am planning to move clinics for my final FET Xx

Hi LemonTwist10 I'm with Guy's at the moment – there is a whole other thread on here about how bad Guy's are so try to find that.

I would say that so far they've been ok, I get counselling about once per month which is better than nothing but often I feel I need more than that. I'm still on my 1st cycle and have had 2 failed ET. I have 1 FE left with them. They are a nightmare to get in touch with – you cannot get through on the phone but when you email the nurses with your day 1 they do get in touch with you by email fairly quickly. My consultant missed a fibroid which should've been removed before I did my first cycle of IVF, so in effect we wasted 1 embryo though who knows if that would've worked.

I'm not pregnant so far! I'm not sure if I can blame them at this stage but I think if I had my time again I may go somewhere else!

Hi I’m sorry if I am joining the wrong thread but just looking for some ivf advice.
I’ve had one cycle through ICSI, had 6 fertilised eggs 2of which were going to be transferred on day 3; due to a complication on ET day (I had some bleeding)they couldn’t go ahead; consultant said only choice was to go to day 5, but they rang and said they had stopped on day 5:-( i was devastated especially as things were going well and one of the embryos he said was a 9cell top quality egg. I was told by the embryologist after that as it didn’t make it to day 5blastocyst , it wouldn’t have implanted on day 3. I still
However think I had a chance on day 3 had I not have had the bleeding. And have also been told that early transfer days are still successful
What are people’s experience and advice?
I’m now 40years old and considering going for it again but the clinic have said the odds are stacked against me due to age and with husbands very low sperm count since they can only pick the sperm which they find moving as opposed to the best quality of the count was higher.
Is the fact I’m 40 even though I had a good quality egg the reason my chances are so slim? So if I did another cycle with similar outcome of eggs it probably wouldn’t work?
I’ve been taking supplements DHEA, coq10, dha and pregnacare pre conception ever since failed cycle 5 months ago (consultant suggested DHEA to help egg quality) I’m hoping someone can share their experiences of these too, thank you xx
