Going private - where to start?

We've decided to pursue private treatment after 6 years ttc and a lot of saving up. I'm 38.
Where do we start? I had bloods done via my GP and a procedure to discover my one blocked tube but that was three years ago now. So do I go back to GP or pick up the phone to the private clinic, and they do all that again?

No need to see your GP for private clinics. Do some research in your area. Most clinics have open evenings to find out more info and ask questions. If you know which clinic you like they usually do a 1st consultation appointment. Good luck

Use hfea.gov.uk to find a good clinic. If you are near a CARE Fertility then use it, they tend to be consistantly goodz

First check out the hfea website for clinics near you and their success rates. Look into each clinic and what they offer and for what price. For me, success rates for my age group became the deciding factor between our top choice clinics. Look into whether your chosen clinics wilp accept NHS tests, if they do and your GP is ok to do them, it could help reduce cost. Contact your chosen clinics and have a consultation or attend an open evening. Look into whole cost of treatment not just the actual procedure
We then looked at overseas clinics and their success rates and cost too.

@leccybill - I saw this guy www.reproductivehealthgroup.co.uk/the-team-and-associates/luciano-nardo/ and he was recommended by a friend of mine who's had a lot of IVF with different practices. He has a clinic in Didsbury and Daresbury.

I liked him, although I saw him just for some preliminary tests, I've not gone through the IVF process myself. He gave some good advice, not just advice to maximise his profit.
