Anyone had FET while breastfeeding?

After many years of trying naturally we got lucky with ivf first time. We now have a gorgeous one year old, who I still breastfeed. She gets a lot of comfort from it and I'd rather not stop unless we have to.
But I'm almost 40 and we have one frozen embryo. We're keen to get our embryo transferred, but would breastfeeding cause it to fail?
Does anyone have any experience please?

I looked into this when I was exploring being a family egg donor and BFing my own DS.

Your best bet is to join the FB group which is called something like "Breastfeeding during IVF", do a search. There is a wealth of experience and info there, including details of doctors and clinics who are supportive. Many are not and will want you to wean completely because their view is that this will maximise the success of the treatment, but some are amenable to supporting you through IVF while breastfeeding. Some of the women in the group have had treatment with the support of their doctors, some have concealed the fact that they still Bf. It's up to you ultimately. Personally I felt I couldn't wean a child who was already here and loved BF for one who didn't yet exist and might not ever, but it's an intensely personal thing.

Best of luck.

Thanks so much - that's exactly it! I want to give my existing child everything they need but worry about leaving it too late to do the FET. Thanks - I will join the group.

In terms of the FET itself, your age doesn't really matter - it's obviously relevant in terms of your family plans, and if you'd be planning to have further rounds of IVF if the FET isn't successful, but for the FET process itself it's not an issue of you choose to wait a bit.

I had a transfer done earlier this year with a PGS tested embryo (so chromosomally normal) very shortly after i stopped breastfeeding. It failed. I am now 8w pregnant having transferred a second frostie 2 months later.

I’ll never know what caused my transfer to fail but personally if I only had one frostie I wouldn’t be attempting a transfer whilst breastfeeding - your hormones are all over the place.

Thanks so much - I'm following this too.
