When did you stop charting?

Hi all, I have been trying for 19 months without any hint of positive.i am going to apply for IVF and my Dr said that I have the requirements so it will be accepted. My question is after months and months of disappointment when did you stop doing ovulation tests, temps...??I am so fed up that I don't think I want to carry on doing it.i know there is something wrong and every month is the same so I don't think it makes sense when I know my cycle.

Hi. Sorry to hear you are having problems. I have been temping and OPK for over a year. Last month we got referred to IVF. Our first consultation is next week. The referal was upsetting but also happy to know we are going to get some help. I decided to take a month off recording temps and OPKs, it has been really good to take a break. I might start again next cycle but I think it depends on how the consultation goes. Good luck.

I stopped the last cycle before ivf. I'd hoped it would take some pressure off and we'd be one of those stories 'got pregnant the cycle before ivf'. Alas not.

That was after just over two years ttc. I don't think I'll do it again. I do know my body reasonably well now, but positive opks were always reassuring I knew exactly when to expect af (my cycles can be a bit irregular).

I never stopped using opks! (Though I never temped) even the cycle inbetween my ivf's I monitored when i ovulated as I wanted to know my cycle went back to normal.

It depends how stressful you find it?

Thanks for your response Smile.I was very keen to stop but I have decided to start acupuncture next week so I will like to see if it makes any difference in my cycle.afraid of needles though so I will see how I manage but I guess it is a good thing before IVF as needles will be daily!

When I got diagnosed with pcos. Apparently opks and charting doesn’t work for that.

I’m scared of needles too and acupuncture is ok. Because I don’t like the needles though I find it quite stressful and not relaxing! But each time I do it I get more used to it and less bothered, I think once you’re using needles daily you’ll get used to it and it’ll be ok.

To answer your question I gave up temping and opks for a couple of months at the 5-7 months TTC point. I got pregnant on month 7 but had a very early miscarriage/ chemical pregnancy 2 days later. I wish I had temped so I could see what the pattern was that month. I’ve done it every month since (now 18 months TTC and not had a bfp since) but I do have stressful weeks where I forget days or it’s the wrong time so it’s not as accurate as it could be. Opks I sometimes do depends if I feel like it.
