IVF: CARE or CREATE clinic?

BlueFish18 · 01/06/2018 20:57

Hi all! First post on a board ever! Eek.
I am about to start the IVF journey and wondering whether anyone has experience of either Care or Create? Create is much closer to me, but from reviews and calling both, I get a way better feeling about Care. Also, anyone with success stories, please post! It’s all a bit daunting :(
Thanks so much!

I’ve just been for a free 1-2-1 consultation with care in Sheffield. I assume all care clinics offer them. Was easy to arrange. Maybe have a look at that to see what you think?

Can't speak for Create but Care Sheffield are great. We conceived our DD through them and all I can say is that they are EXTREMELY thorough and think about every last detail. They also seem to really care about you as a couple and your journey. Nothing is too much trouble. We have two frozen embryos so will be returning!

I’m at Create in Wilmslow. I’ve done three collection rounds (low AMH) and am about to have an embryo transfer. I am happy with the treatment I’ve had, although nothing to compare it to! The staff there are lovely. I think you have to go with your gut to some extent. Also depends on what fertility issue you have?

Good luck Flowers

Thanks so much for the replies. All very helpful. AndCallMeNancy- it’s unexplained, although my AMH is also quite low. I’ll try the 1-2-1 consultation at Care. Unfortunately I don’t think Create offers this- seems you have to pay £300 for the initial consultation. Thanks all!

The 1-2-1 isn’t a consultation as such is more information gathering if that makes sense

I went to an open eve initially at Create and then paid about £175 for a consultation as it was booked at the open eve. Hope you find the right place for your treatment.

Thanks MrsJones17. Yes, I know what you mean. I don’t think Create offers the 1-2-1 meeting. The doc said I should consider a clinic that was convenient, since you have to go so often. To be honest, Create is far closer and easier, but just haven’t got the best first impression. I’m sure it’s very dependent on your situation and who you deal with. Thanks again for your insights.

I can't comment on Care, but we used Create (St Paul's) and now have our beautiful son Smile We were really pleased with them; the admin can be slightly hit and miss at times, but I received excellent care and the staff are lovely. We chose it because it's open 7 days, you can call them 24 hours a day if you have any problems, and they use fewer drugs than other places. The initial consultation was about £170, if I remember correctly, but it was very thorough.

Oh, and I think that if you go to a Create open evening you can get a free 'mini consultation', so that might be helpful.

Which is your closet CARE clinic? I definitely recommend going for the free 121 visit like a PP said, I had treatment at CARE a few times they were amazing

We use care nottingham and have always been v impressed with them. However, I’d agree that picking a clinic that’s close to you would be beneficial - how much is the difference in terms of travel? Care was our closest clinic for our fresh cycle and it was brilliant as I barely missed any time off work despite loads of scans. Since then we’ve been back for two frozen cycles and we now live a lot further away and it’s a real hassle to be honest.

Thanks Lauren83 and welshweasel.
Create is literally round the corner from where I live- just a few mins walk. Care is an hour via public transport on the other side of London. I didn’t want to base my choice on convenience alone. Everyone raves about Care! However, Create is incredibly close to where I live. It would be far more convenient. How many times do you think you need to go during the process? Thanks!

Ahh seems you're in London! Well I had my ivf at the Hewitt centre in Liverpool amazing place!
Tried care in Manchester and Birmingham women's hospital but neither place felt right.
Are you trying supplements? Acupuncture?
Both amazing!
Good luck!!!

Glassofred- yes in London :) I’m taking CoQ10 and conception support vitamins. Considering acupuncture! What worked for you? Sounds like you did some travelling around to find the right place too?!

Blue fish. I had ivf as a single woman. I used royal jelly coq10 fish oils and high strength vit d.
The acupuncture was amazing I saw a lady who specialised in fertility, she was brilliant.
I wasn't happy with clinics until I tried Liverpool and wasn't prepared to part with money till I was 100%
