Low progesterone

My husband and I have been TTC for the last year or so and had no luck. We are both 32. We have just had the tests - sperm, HyCosy and blood tests and doctor says all looks fine however my progesterone is slightly on the low side but not too much to worry about. We will give it 6 months before trying chlomid.

Has anyone else had low progesterone and had success in TTC? Or is there anything I can do to help increase it?

Hello,how low is it?mine is in the borderline and they don't want to give me anything although I told them that I have a short lp.

Try some natural progesterone cream, there have been some good reviews about it

They didn't tell me what the actual score/number was - I think it was only slightly lower than normal so they were reluctant to give me chlomid just yet.

What sort of doctor was this - was this a gynaecologist?.

They should have told you what the number was. Communication between all of you is vitally important, you must all work as a team. What you also need here is a diagnosis too.

The cream itself is unlikely to make any real difference. Low progesterone levels can be caused by other hormonal imbalances; for example what is your LH level like in comparison to your FSH level?. When were all these tested in terms of cycle days, tests done on the wrong days can give meaningless results. I would reconsider giving yourselves another six months before trying clomid but why are they reluctant to give you this anyway?. Are they going to repeat these blood tests next month?.

Ring and get the score.

Just ask them for chlomid. It’s a no brainier

My progestetone scores weren't great on my first 21 day test, they were concerned I wasnt ovulating but my GP said no to Clomid too. He didnt want me to go on meds, all my other tests camr back just perfect except for TSH which was far too high. Gynae wanted to refer to endocrinologist but i refused. 6 months on and all my tests came back perfect with excellent progesterone levels and TSH in range too.
Ask for the reading, you can request a copy of this from your GP too

Hello mine was 30 both times which I don't think it is great but no bad either.i told my consultant about the 9 days lp and he refused to give me something.does it make sense to try progesterone cream?

@Guio Mines was 28.7 and I think that's too low, she said its normal but im really not happy settling with that! I have a 10 day LP but I spot from 8/9 dpo which cant be good. Im not 100% sure with the cream I also have been thinking that but not sure what to do. x

My first reading was 25.2, my second reading was 33.8.

I have been trying for 18 months and before going to IVF I would like to try something to get pregnant naturally .I was thinking of buying the cream. can someone recommend one?

I also have spotting before my period arrives. Sometimes had progesterone levels of 25, sometimes 45. Was told below 30 means ovulation may not have occurred.
I tried progesterone tablets rather than a cream. I bought them in a pharmacy on holiday in Spain and used them from ovulation to period. They can be used orally or vaginally, I opted for the latter as supposed to reduce side effects. I didn't have any issues. They held off the spotting for a few days. If I had got a positive pregnancy test I would have continued with the progesterone until 12 weeks.

Guio you might be eligible for Clomid?

I have my progesterone suppositories but have not used them as was not needed due to cancelled embryo transfer, reading the threads, I note some people have some bloating/cramping - the usual suspects, then others have no issues at all.

I am planning to buy some natural progesterone cream, sadly the one that was most highly recommended needs to be shipped from the US. I am going with Biovea as it also has excellent reviews.

I seem to be ovulating as bbt each month has a clear rise which stays high until af arrives! But to me 28.7 is still too low. I just know when I contact my doctor they will say the reading is ok! But I don't think spotting soo early on is going to help me trying to get pregnant.

My levels were 26, and like you guys have a short LP of 8/9 days. I am having a diagnostic laparoscopy and ablation next month (history of endometriosis) and then repeat CD3 and CD21/7dpo bloods for two cycles prior to being prescribed Clomid.

Interested to hear how you get on with the cream - I have read quite a bit about it and would consider trying it

I asked my consultant about clomid and he refused as I am ovulating although 30 is not that high for progesterone.i have applied for IVF but I really don't understand why I couldn't try something before going to invasive treatments.

From what I understand, although I might be wrong - Clomid doesn't just make you ovulate, it makes you ovulate stronger - thus improving your progesterone levels as controlled by the corpus luteum
