Progesterone levels and ttc

I originally posted this on the conception board but did not get any replies and wondered if anyone had any advice.

I have been ttc second child for coming up to 1 year (I am 37). I have had blood tests to check hormones levels ( taken on day 2 of cycle and should have been day 21 of cycle but was day 24). All levels were within ranges apart from progesterone on day 24 which was 25 and levels should ideally be over 30. Would this be causing issues in ttc and is there any supplement I could take to try and increase my levels? Or could it be that the blood test was taken too late to be useful? My cycles tend to be around 30 days but with the odd one that's around 34/35. Thankyou.

Hello, I had progesterone checked and it was 30 borderline.i asked the Dr if they could give me something to extend the luteal phase as it is short and he said now as that means there is an underlying issue which causes that...so now they referred me to IVF.i thought there were solutions for low progesterone...I am taking b6 but it doesn't seem to to extend it but from now on I will try to relax and stop controlling my cycle.

Your progesterone rises in the second part of your luteal phase as a response to ovulation. If it doesn’t rise, it may mean you haven’t ovulated (rather than there being a problem with your progesterone IYSWIM).

The reading should be taken 7 days after you ovulated (day 21 being the average based on a 28 day cycle).
