Having NHS funded treatment at private clinic?

Hi all

I’m looking for some advice from you lovely ladies.

I’ve found myself in the ‘subfertile’ category after trying to conceive - unsuccessfully - for a looong time. My GP agreed to refer me to my local hospital for gynaecology investigations.

So... the consultant has ordered
Day 3 bloods
Day 21 bloods
Rubella bloods
HSG
Semen analysis

So I’m going through the motions with the above - at the moment they’re all taking place within hospitals in my local trust.

When my GP first referred me it was for the purpose of the investigations, so I just opted for my local hospital.

But there are three hospitals within 20miles
of me that offer IVF (my local hospital isn’t one of them - they only do gynaecology)

Now I don’t know yet whether I will have to go down the road of IVF, but thinking ahead, I’m wondering whether I will have the option to choose one of the 3 for my NHS funded cycle?

One of them doesn’t have great success rates, the other NHS one is around 48% success and the private one is just generally renowned.

Will I get to choose?

Thanks! Flowers

I am waiting for a IVF referral and we were given a list of hospitals to choose from so yes you do get to choose :)

But not all private clinics do nhs. I requested a certain clinic by there were only 2 who did nhs whilst there's about 6 in total

Great - thanks for confirming.

Our nearest IVF clinic (in terms of miles) is actually the private one. I’ve checked on their website and it clearly says they accept NHS funded patients for fertility treatment. So fingers crossed I’ll be able to opt for that one.

Ps good luck with your treatment fiestylittleowl

Hi Jun, I am in the same boat as you. All the test you said above me and OH are currently sorting out with our GP before we go to the fertility clinic.

Also unsure where our journey will take us.
