TTC- high BBT but no LH rise
TTC7 · 02/05/2018 08:59
Hello- this is my very first post so pls do bear with me. My husband and I have been trying to TTC for 5 months now with no luck. I have been using an app to track my BBT and OPKs. This month the BBT has detected a rise in my temp but it's not corresponding with the OPK (I'm using the clear blue OPK- it hasn't shown a flashing smiley face (rise in oestrogen) or constant smiley face (LH surge)). This has happened before on a previous cycle. Does anyone know why this could be? Any help would be much appreciated. I know in the grand scheme of things we haven't been trying relatively long, but each month that passes by with no pregnancy is utterly heartbreaking (and it seems as though everyone around me is able to get pregnant instantly). Thank you.

You might want to have this posted in Conception where you may get more answers. Most of the people on this board are beyond using OPKs and temperature tracking so you might get some more support from people currently still expecting to conceive naturally.

In terms of tracking, a clear and sustained temperature increase indicates ovulation, OPKs only indicate that your body is gearing up to ovulate. If you are experiencing a temperature increase, and it is at roughly the same time each month, use this as your guide to when you ovulate.

Hi OverinaFlash- thanks for the heads up, coincidently I did post on that board also (and I know that's possibly the more relevant board for me at the moment going forward). Appreciate the advice also. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to me. :-)

No problem. Although the Clear Blue OPK is probably easier to use than the cheap stick ones, not everyone has success with it, so you could try getting some of the cheapy ones that just give you two lines, and see if you have any more luck with those. Hope it happens for you soon.

Thanks so much (it's really tough as each month passes by and nothing). Thank you and hope all well with you whatever stage you are at :-)

Thanks. We've been at it for 2 years, one ectopic, and now IVF starting in the next couple of months so just gearing up to that.

Good luck to you OvinaFlash. Really hope the IVF works out for you... 🙏🤞
