Hi all just wondering if anyone else is trying to lose a bit of weight before they start their next cycle?
My doc said it helps and so far in the past month I've been on mfp and sticking to 1200 calories and lost 1stone so far.
Thought we could share tips and recipes and general support.

1 stone! Great effort - well done! Have you set yourself a weight you want to get to or just trying your best til June?

I'm part way through my 2nd cycle so not actively trying to lose weight but I'm a few pounds more than I was for the first cycle and before that I was the most I've been in years. Just another upsetting part of ivf that it seems to make it harder to keep the weight down!!

I heard a BMI of 23 is the "most fertile weight" but god knows if that applies to people having ivf!

Hi @hoping2018...it's crazy isn't it I gained 7lbs during my last cycle from meds which is so frustrating.
I'm hoping to lose another stone hopefully it will help.
I can't see me getting to 23 though I'm 29 at the moment 😯

Hi there, well done on the weight loss! It’s really tough, especially when weight gain is inevitable during a cycle.

I’ve been doing weight watchers online since January and managed to lose almost a stone. I actually continued to follow it during stims, as it’s basically healthy eating, and although my weight fluctuated a bit around egg collection etc, I managed to limit weight gain to 3 pounds, which I managed to get back off within the next couple of weeks.

The online weight watchers is good because there are so many recipes for you to follow.

Hi @windy2909 that's great! I've tried both weight watchers and slimmers world over the years but I found as soon as I deviated from plan slightly I'd gain...but with my mfp I eat as normal but just make sure I don't go over my calories...for me that's worked best.
It amazing to hear your success though!

Hi longrd I have been losing weight too. Lost 12kg so far, due to start my 1st cycle this week.
I just started eating about 6 times a day, portions got smaller and metabolism increased. Drinking more water and herbal teas only. I don't eat after 7

longrd · 30/04/2018 22:41

Hi AniSL thats amazing! What sort of small meals are you having a day?
I've stopped drinking alcohol and caffeine...I currently live of decaf teas and water...not going to lie I miss wine but I hopefully it will be worth it.
How you feeling about your cycle?

Hi longrd, I don't drink or smoke so thankfully don't miss any of that. I know my sis in law struggled with the alcohol ban. I have my three main meals, but because in between I snack on nuts or fruit or even dare I say a protein bar, I have found that I eat less in the main meals. It keeps my metabolism going, main meals are balanced to make sure I get protein as well as carbs. The amazing thing is that, when I returned to eating crap because of a bereavement a month ago (Yes a whole month of cakes sweets and chocolates), I only put back on .8kg. Which now I'm pleased has come off again.
I am a vegetarian too so I am able to get the better vege protein which is apparently better than animal protein. One thing I make sure I do is kefir daily on an empty stomach and also one full fat yoghurt - apparently supports fertility success.
I had my baseline scan today so waiting for my protocol. A bit worried that I am not the weight I want to be but apart from that I'm quite chilled about it - oh and not looking forward to the injections either

Ah ok I thought you were having lots of mini meals (which I couldn't do) but 3 main meals with snacks is pretty much what I do too.
So sorry about the bereavement hope you're doing ok.

Good luck for the treatment! X

Thanks longrd, found my main meals have gone down in size. It's helped. Not having anything to drink with meals was tough but am used to it now.

Make sure you eat full fat and drink full fat milk. The reduced fat plays havoc with progesterone

Oh I didn't know that I always have semi skimmed! Thanks for the tip
