Life after laparoscopy

Evening!

Has anyone noticed a HUGE difference in their period after having laparoscopy? Monday was the start of my first period since surgery and it finished yesterday. Usually my period lasts 8/9 days and not three light, painless, days. Is this normal? Is this how they'll be from now on (hopes wildly but doesn't think it'll be true).

My first period after a laparoscopy was much heavier, with cramps for much longer without letting up, and the added bonus of flooding, which I had never really had before in the same way. Everyone's different!

Also are you sure that what you experienced was your period and not post-operative bleeding? I had some light bleeding following surgery as you described, and then a few weeks later I had a period. But as I said, everyone's different, and my lap was excision and not just investigation.

My post-op bleeding only lasted a couple of days (had surgery 4th April and started ttc again 5th April 😆) and this was definitely my period albeit very light compared to normal.

I think my entire body is broken. My post partum blessing lasted six months because my periods started straight after and they were 25days long then!

Wow! Well don’t knock it I guess 😊 There’s no way I could have started TTC the next day, ouch!

Do you have endometriosis? I’ve had six laps - I’ll often have improved periods for a while afterwards but sadly for me it doesn’t last.

@TammySwansonTwo yes I have endometriosis and they took away as much as they could in the couple of hours. They think it was stopping us conceiving so did what they could.

You may well find that your periods are improved for at least a while. Mine are totally different in the six months after surgery but sadly for me it doesn’t last. Best of luck with the TTC Flowers
