Hi. New to mumsnet and this is my first post, so hello. I am just about to start IVF treatment. I will be starting with my gonal f evening injections either tomorrow or the next day, depending if AF arrives today/tomorrow! Anyone else at this early stage of IVF treatment? Would be nice to talk to someone else at the same stage of treatment. Or anyone got any tips re injections - I have such a phobia of needles! Feeling nervous but also excited, trying to not stress myself out atm. Thanks

Come and join us on cycle buddies April/May thread, lots of lovely ladies just starting too xx

What @Summerloving17 said. But also I did my first one last night. I found it quite stressful and I felt quite strange afterwards, but I honestly think it's the unknown making me feel like that.

I'm no where near as worried about doing tonight's.

Thanks summerloving, are you able to tag me in the thread? Or will give a go at finding it, could do with some cycle buddies Smile

Si1lver. Totally get what you're saying. Think you're right, you build it up so much in your head. Good luck for your next injection. Guess I'll find out soon enough myself x

The Gonal F pens have such thin needles that they don't hurt at all, they just slide straight in.

Make sure you've got some antibacterial medical wipes, wash your hands well before hand, take a few deep breaths and crack on. You'll be fine.

@si1ver thanks for the words of encouragement and advice. How far do you stick the needle in lol? Think I must've been watching my med teach through my fingers lol. Might even get DH to do it, after all least he can do given I have extra hormones to cope with. I'm crazy enough as is 😜 xx

I stuck it in to the end of the needle, but didn't press further.

There are loads of videos on YouTube you can watch which can might help. My husband offered to do mine but I figured I'd be better off in bed control. The actual injections (rather than the pen shots) he's going to have to do for me. He's booked himself on a injection giving course with our GPs.

@Si1ver Great advice. Will have a google and see what I can find. Lots of messages in the other thread to go through. Is this your first time trying ivf? It's my first time. Worried it won't work as I'm old, although don't feel it!

picklesandpetals · 24/04/2018 19:05

It's geriatric as my charming doctor never tires of telling me. 😆

Did you do your first injection yet?

picklesandpetals · 24/04/2018 21:04

Day two went fine and was considerably easier than day one.
