IUI or IVF for unexplained infertility?

Our fertility consultant told us that IUI wasn’t much good for unexplained as it is “basically the same as what you’re already doing”. He said IVF is our only option. I see a lot of women with unexplained infertility being advised to try IUI first and so I don’t know what is best.

Anyone here with unexplained infertility that has tried either? Or both? Next month is our last month of trying naturally before looking into treatment in the autumn so just kind of want to get an idea

Not unexplained, but one thing my doctor pointed out as a difference between IUI and IVF is that with IVF, you get more information, even from an unsuccessful round. With IUI, if it doesn't work you don't really know what was happening, but since so much of the IVF process is happening in the lab, there are more chances to learn from the cycle. So, that's something to factor in.
