Infertility

How long did you take Norethisterone for?

Wondering if anyone can help - I’ve been taking Norethisterone prior to starting IVF, (to bring my period forward), but all my googling (I wish I hadn’t!) comes up with people taking it for 10 days or so. My clinic only told me to take it for 6 days, starting from CD15. I’m worried that 6 days won’t be enough to cause the progesterone crash needed to bring my period on. Anyone else take it for only 6 days? I could contact my clinic, but I don’t want to seem like I’m questioning their methods!

I think it’s best to speak to your clinic as you may be comparing apples with oranges looking online. You may be on a different protocol.

From memory, I believe that I had a 7 day course but can’t remember what CD I started. I think I was having it while down regulating as I think I had to delay stims as I was still bleeding, and I started down regging at CD21 so I guess it was after that.

Don’t worry at all about asking questions at the clinic, you are not questioning their methods, you are trying to understand the medical procedures that you are going through which is entirely reasonable!

Thanks for replying - there’s so much to learn with all this. You’re right - I should just ask...

totally irrelevant to your threads reasons... but I was prescribed Northisterone for a long period of time .. to stop very heavy periods.. I had to take it at the same time every single day.. even an hour or two out of schedule would induce a heavy period.. Shock

so... my personal experience of this drug was this.... Hmm

it induced a period within a day of my forgetting/stopped taking it...even if I'd only taken it a few days.. it was the same effect... Confused

I wish you the best of luck as your reasons for taking it are vastly different to mines.. but it does do what it says on the box ... good luck OP Flowers
