Infertility

Serum Athens infection screening

Has anyone had this done? We have “unexplained” infertility and wondering if it’s worth doing.

I heard someone talking about it a while back. They were told they had unexplained infertility too but they sent off a sample of menstrual blood to Serum as they do infection screening not available here in the UK and they were found to have a genital tract infection, given antibiotics and conceived not long after. I did email them and it seems good as a last resort before looking into ivf but I wanted to see if anyone had done it or had any experience with Serum?

I've done it and was clear of infections.

Hope that helps?

I did, got positive result we took antibiotics. Around 5 months later conceived naturally. Definitely worth doing.

We were negative on all the 'conventional' tests.

I spoke to my clinic about Serums infection screening. They told me it’s not worth it, no where in any guidelines (European or American) is it recommended and also don’t me that if I did still want them done, go to the lab directly.

I have been to Serum
4 x ivf in this country. Zilch

1 x ivf serum fell pregnant but all went wrong at 12 week scan

Next ivf at serum and I now have twin girls

Everyone is different but it was the best decision of my life to visit Athens. They now do outreach clinics in UK

Penny is amazing

Good luck with your decision

I also should have said I did the blood screening and immune testing

I think both were missing links and both pregnancies were when I was in a different protocol linked to the results

Some girls did get pregnant naturally from doing the blood and taking the antibiotics

I was also unexplained
If you want information have a look on fertility friends and agate immune testing section in Greece. Very informative

I fell pregnant naturally
a month after infection screening, but miscarried at 5 weeks. Never managed another natural pregnancy. I'm now pregnant with de twins from another clinic. I wasn't impressed enough with Serum to go with them.

Isthismummy we weren’t impressed them by either and totally decided against them too

I did the test and was positive. A word of warning to anyone taking the doxycycline- do not have just before bed, you really need to make sure it's gone down with food. I burnt a big hole in my eosophogaous by not taking it correctly and the resulting pain made me feel like I was having a heart attack.

The scaring in my uterus was preventing implantation so I had hysteroscopy with serum. After nearly 3 years of infertility I got pregnant straight away and am now 13 weeks.

Good luck with your journey x
