I had my blood test but no idea what it means ... 23.8 is what the dr surgery said but there's no interpretation of results till I see the GP when I can get an appointment at the end of the week

Have I ovulated??

Was this test 7 days after you think you ovulated? Af would show up a week after this...

cockupparent · 19/03/2018 14:51

Yeah I think so... I'm waiting for af. Test was done on Friday

Generally a result above 30 confirms ovulation. You might be classed as borderline, whatever that means.

cockupparent · 19/03/2018 21:01

Oh ok... so possibly I haven't ovulated then?

@cockupparent. I would say yes. Obviously I'm no expert but last month my result was 17, (16-28 is classed as "borderline"). I think maybe they have a borderline category for when it's possibly not 7dpo? I had my day 21 taken last week at that was

cockupparent · 20/03/2018 11:44

I'm being dense... you think I did ovulate? Or I didn't?

I'm on metformin. Took soya isoflavones and also taking myo inositol so was really hoping I would have good news

I think you're going to have to wait for the doc - everything would be speculative on our part.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 20/03/2018 12:21

@cockupparent. I would say you probably did as I asked a GP a few weeks ago and he said he would say it was likely but as @physicskate said, it would be best to see what your GP says.

cockupparent · 20/03/2018 12:41

Yes I have an appointment on Thursday.

The receptionist said it was slightly low but between 20-30 is expected

If I had been slightly early (I had timed it when I thought I was 7dpo) but supposing I was wrong and actually only 4dpo or something... would it rise further by 7dpo? Or do you just ovulate and bam progesterone is its highest then falls until af?

OP posts:
physicskate · 20/03/2018 13:20

It should be at a maximum on 7 dpo. So it's very possible to ovulate and then get a low result of the test is taken on the wrong day.

kikisparks · 22/03/2018 17:53

Do you use OPKs or temping to work out what dpo you are? If not you could have taken it on totally the wrong day.

cockupparent · 22/03/2018 17:58

No I don't temp. I will invest in a decent thermometer soon though I think. Until I get my cycle I can't know for sure exactly how accurate the test is but my GP thinks I probably aren't ovulating and is referring me for more tests.

I already know what's wrong - I have PCOS so I suppose it's what that means now in terms of my fertility

OP posts:
cockupparent · 22/03/2018 17:58

I did use OPKs but they're not necessarily correct in PCOS sufferers

I went for this test quite a few months ago and it lead to an internal scan and being told I have PCOS. I was told my results showed that my levels were less than 2! I am on month 5 of metformin at the mo and due to go back to GP in a couple of weeks to let her know it doesn’t seem to be working. Referral next...

cockupparent · 22/03/2018 22:08

I'm on metformin and know I have PCOS from previous scans and treatment. I had a child 5 years ago. 5 years on I would like another...

cockupparent · 23/03/2018 10:25

Af just arrived exactly 7 days after test was done so is accurate as it can be. Not ovulating 😢

OP posts:
cockupparent · 23/03/2018 10:37

I'm actually more gutted than I thought I would be. I expected it not to be amazing as I know I have PCOS but after a positive OPK and periods plus the metformin, isoflavones etc - I was hopeful 😭

OP posts:
LookingAtTheStars89 · 23/03/2018 11:02

@cockupparent. I'm sorry you are having a hard time. I can completely relate. The same thing happened to me last month - the one time I had a "normal" 28 day cycle! I was gutted too. I have my GP follow up on Monday. I don't see how I could have any more tests as PCOS has already been confirmed. I'm hoping they are going to do something to help me. I hope you get the help you need to.

cockupparent · 23/03/2018 11:44

I know. PCOS is confirmed in my case too. I just want to know if I have any chance or need to make peace that I won't have another child ever now. I'm hoping the tests, referrals etc can provide that closure or hope
