BFP then bad news 8 wk scan :(

I’m so confused :( sorry about the odd thread title but I don’t know what else to put

After our 2nd round of IVF I got a BFP result (x2) had an eight week scan and told there was no foetus in the pregnancy sac, we were obviously devastated

They said I could opt for a procedure, or wait 2 weeks and would start to have symptoms of a miscarriage naturally, I’ve had no symptoms whatsoever, no bleeding no cramping no nothing

They’ve now booked me back in this week (3 weeks since first scan) for another scan

I (probably stupidly) did another test this morning & got another BFP, but am I hoping against hope to think they missed something at 8 weeks?

I’m so confused & upset by it all, I just wish this scan would come around

Hi sasparella. I'm so sorry to hear about your news. I was still getting bfps for 5-6 weeks after my mc (also ivf #2) at 6 weeks. I had retained tissue which continued to keep levels of hcg detectable.

I don't know if there is still a chance for you, but take care of yourself.

Thanks for your reply, I know it’s not really likely in reality I just feel so confused by it all & every day I’ve expected to have mc symptoms :(

I’m really sorry to say this but I was getting bfps for several weeks after I knew my pregnancy wasn’t viable and I had an Erpc. Hcg takes a while to get out of your system.

I hope I’m wrong for you. It’s so hard when something like this happens. Take care.
