How "perfect" to be when tcc

Hi ladies, just wanting some guidance on how much to fine tune my health/fitness/diet in order to conceive?

I’ve been ttc for 15 cycles with not so much as a whiff of pregnancy, basic testing has shown I’m fine but have a slightly low egg count & DH has a low sperm count (but good shape/motility). Seeing Monash IVF soon for guidance/thorough testing/to ask for an IUI. I’m 30 yrs old and husband 29.

In some ways I could be more “perfect” with my diet, health and fitness but it also may stress me out more in what is already a stressful time - and stress is counter active to ttc.

Getting desperate and frantic now and starting to overanalyse if there is something I’m doing wrong that is ruining my chances every single time?? Or am I on the right track and pushing myself too hard to be “perfect” won’t help me??

Here is an honest overview of me:

* I have 3 healthy balanced meals and 2 healthy snacks each day - but also treats in between.

  • I was a dancer up until 2 years ago when we moved states and I started a stressful job and since then I have been sedentary - aside from the past 6 months when we got a puppy and I take him on 3-5 x 15 minute walks a week.
  • Im 80kg and should be 65-70kg.
  • I do my best to manage mild anxiety, stress from work, and the stress of feeling barren/trying to keep a brave face on at all times.
  • I have good general health. My immune system is good - I’m rarely sick - and all my organs are functioning well too.
  • And lastly, until recently I drank about the equivalent of 3-3.5 coffees a day. I think the most I can get it down too (while still surviving my busy lifestyle) is 2 small instant coffees, standard strength. This is what I’ve been doing in the past week. (Caffeine is my hardest vice to shake but I am not an alcohol drinker at all so that’s something).

Please be honest with me about anything I could be doing better - or if you think balance is more important than pushing myself to be perfect in terms of health.

Love and baby dust to you all 💗✨💗

I would make cut down on the snacks but this is from a purely medical point of view as I'm assuming you're saying you are clinically obese whuch is associated with higher risks of cancer diabetes etc. With ttc in mind I think you're fine but obviously being overweight isn't ideal

Caffeine and weight. Maybe neither of those is stopping you getting pregnant, but maybe one (or both) are preventing it. Recent studies have suggested that caffeine increases miscarriage risk, pregnancy rates. Even a small amount can do this. It looks like it's worse than alcohol for early pregnancy.
