Sex after egg collection

Why are we advised not to have sex after egg collection. I have heard it's in case a mature egg has been left behind but surely if the IVF doesn't work it will just increase my chances of getting pregnant? Xxx

Risk of infection, plus risk of multiple pregnancy potentially too. Also if you were to develop symptoms of OHSS in the time between collection and transfer they can do a freeze-all, but if you had a spontaneous conception it would get worse due to pregnancy hormones.

Good for you if you’re feeling well enough to contemplate sex tho, I only had eyes for prune juice and hot water bottles! 😂

Also because your ovaries are massively enlarged from the stims, there's a risk of ovarian torsion. Very unlikely to have a multiple as all of the follicles have been aspirated.
