Infertility
100% sperm deformity
CLB540 · 14/03/2018 19:58
Found out today that although my husband has a normal amount of sperm they are all deformed in the head meaning they will never get into my eggs.
Has anyone else has experience of this and have you managed to 'fix' the deformities? If so how did you do it?
He doesnt smoke and doesnt particularly drink. He could probably do with losing a stone but nothing major. He is 35. Anything you ca suggest i am willing to try as i dont know how we will afford rounds of IVF. Thank you

So 0% morphology? But is it a mixture of different shapes and sizes? If they're all microheads there's no DNA, if they're macroheads, they'll have too much DNA so either type can't work.
However, it's a mixture of different shapes and some aren't far off being normal, you might as well have a go at Proxeed or Profertil + 8-10 of his 5 a day and loose pants.
As he's already reasonably healthy, it's unlikely to make a dramatic difference but might improve his morphology to 1 or 2%. If you're not pressed for time (eg due to your age) then you might as well try naturally. But realistically the odds will be against you so it might not work.

Our Gynaecology consultant suggested trying some special conception vitamins for men.... apparently sperm need zinc etc. Also to keep cool ie baggy boxers, avoid heated car seats and saunas etc

Oh, do you know the numbers for motility and count? Were they average or even excellent? That would give you a more realistic chance. If they were just above the infertility cut off point, so barely in the normal range, I'd probably start considering IVF seriously.

For us, motility is 25% of what it should be and the count is 90% of what it should be. Morphology of what he has is ok.

We were told that the motility and count were much more significant factors than morphology. We had one test with 0%, and after a while it was 5%, which counts as ok. My DH cut down on cycling and avoided putting his laptop on his lap. No idea if it was down to chance. We have two DC, both conceived naturally. Good luck OP.
