Hi

My DH SA has come back. I know his count is low. Have we any chance of conceiving naturally?

There's always a chance.

With a count of less than 10million per ml, icsi is usually recommended. That said, there is a good percentage of normal forms and good motility so it could be a lot worse!

There is always the chance that you might conceive naturally, but it depends on how old you are really, and how quickly you want to be pg. if you are 25 and in no hurry, then fine to try naturally for a couple more years. If you're 39 and desperate to conceive, ivf would be your best option.

It's really not as bad as it's made out to be, If I had known what it was really like, I'd have started ages ago...

Thanks West. I'm 31 but my DH is older than I am. I think i'll leave it until summer and then we'll have been trying for 14 months. Following that we'll seek further treatment.

I totally agree with 430West.

I've definitely seen worse than that my DH's the count is definitely low but the motility and morphology is fine. So basically, he doesn't have much, but what he has is good. If you can afford to wait a while you might get lucky, so it all depends on how long you want to wait.

The good news is that with results like those, your infertility isn't unexplained, and that really helps with cutting down waiting time if and when you do want to seek treatment.

Good luck!

Sperm counts also vary a lot even within a few months. It would be 100% worth your husband trying everything he can naturally to help as you keep trying. Zita West is good for advice on things like this. ( Apologies if he is already)

We've just started on pregnacare vitamins and have been using preseed this month. Thanks ladies. It's reassured me I can wait a bit longer and hope nature is kind to us x

Our clinic recommended Proxeed which does seem to have made a difference for DH. Quite expensive and (apparently) tastes horrible though!
