First FC appointment - what to expect

Hi all, DP and I have our first fertility clinic appointment in a week or so. We were referred because of DP's poor SA results but we're both to go (I've had day 21 bloods which were fine, but have chronic spotting from OV to AF). Just wondering what to expect? What info to have ready? No info on appt card! Is it just likely to be background questions, or actual examinations? I'm keen to be as prepared as poss to get the most out of appt, any advice much appreciated. X

I had a list of all my cycle lengths since ttc. Also know the first day of your last period.

I had a transvaginal ultrasound as well.

Bloods were ordered for me. Your oh will probably be asked to give another sample (not on the day!! But to arrange for a second one), especially as his first sample showed some issues...

Thanks, that’s helpful. He’s given 2 samples so far but I’ve warned him he’ll probably have to give more! We weren’t told any details of what exactly was wrong with his sperm, just that it is ‘poor’, so hopefully we’ll get details.

chooklass I'll be watching this with interest. I've got my first FC appointment mid March and like you, day 21 bloods showed ovulation, my result was 34, but have spotting from OV to AF. Would you mind coming back and updating if they say anything about it, or sending me a pm if you don't want to update on here.

No problem, I will update or get in touch! Spotting before af seems very common but nobody seems to really know why!. I had an old thread about it which might be useful:

Hey @OverinaFlash just back from appt. we were both seen by nurse 1st who checked height, weight and blood pressure. Then doc saw us and asked lots about my cycles, eg how long, heavy, regular. We were asked about how often we dtd etc. She went over DPs SA results then I was given an internal ultrasound to check ovaries. I've been referred for further tests which might take 2-3 months to get then have to go back in Aug for next appt with Doc. They were all really lovely - good luck with yours x
