Last minute change of clinic - London clinic recommendations

Hello all,

I was due to start my ivf journey tomorrow (due to start Norestitherone tablets and then stimming after my period arrives). We already have a DS through IVF so we are funding this privately ourselves.

I had an awful co-ordination appointment today where I felt rushed through everything. My last IVF fresh cycle was 6 years ago but I kept being told you've done this before when I asked any questions! I had to be pretty firm in the end and demand that the nurse slow down. I'm already nervous as this is our last try and I suffered a stillbirth of my baby boy 18 months ago now (who miraculously was a natural conception) so I'm obviously anxious and praying that this works.

Anyway, the clinic were pretty bad last time we did IVF in terms of nurses appointments and the same issue of feeling rushed and it all being haphazard, so I just told myself the important thing was to focus on the actual protocol which worked twice before (one time ending in an ectopic).

Tonight, after feeling a little better, I've read through the Norethisterone leaflet which says not to use it if you have any clotting disorders. I do have a clotting disorder and they know this. I've sent an urgent email and left a message asking them to call me but I'm now feeling very uncertain about the whole thing. Even if there is no issue with me taking the tablets I feel like they should be telling me this. They know my history.

I'm now having a major wobble about going ahead with them. I therefore wondered if anyone could recommend a London clinic for a private patient. (I'm an older mum if that's relevant). Much as I'd love the Rolls Royce ARGC experience, we just can't afford it or anywhere with those kind of prices! We're currently at Hammersmith so somewhere kind of equivalent to there is what I'm after.

I will also see what they say tomorrow and whether that gives any comfort.

Sorry this is long and thanks very much in advance

Hey didn’t want to read and run and I’m sorry about your experience. I am a private patient at guys hospital and have already had a few things gone wrong plus they are a nightmare to get hold of on the phone and so I’m not sure I would recommend them. The staff on the whole are lovely when you eventually get time with them! It could also be quite stressful moving as you have to pay to transfer notes etc? I’m not sure as am only looking into moving now myself, hopefully someone who has moved can comment Xx

Hi summer

Thanks very much for your message. I'm so sorry that you're in a similar boat. It's rubbish isn't it? Whether you're paying or not you really do except better.

The nurse I saw wasn't horrible but she was humouring me and not really answering any of my questions. My previous experience was also bad for the same kind of reasons (lack of information, having to raise things myself).

Anyway, I hope we both get an idea of what changing may entail (and where may be better although I'm getting the feeling they may all be similar for this kind of thing) and I really hope that wherever you're at for your treatment, you get your BFP Smile

Sorry for the confusion that last message was from me!

Summer, are you due to do the long or short protocol?

Haha I didn’t even notice your name! I had a slightly different long protocol as my hormones don’t work which is basically 6-7 stimms. My fresh cycle has just failed but I have 3 frozen left so just debating whether to move them and do a FET elsewhere xx

Very sorry about your fresh cycle but good that you have some frozen left. It's a hard decision knowing whether to move isn't it?

Apparently I will be getting a call by 1pm (we'll see!) so I'll know a little more then x
