Long cycles, but they won't give me clomid

Hi there, I'm new here, looking for some advice from more experienced ladies :)

Some background info on us: we've been TTC for one year and a half, I'm 33, OH is 36.
10 cycles in total because of irregular periods, 2 CPs.

The blood tests are fine, SA also fine, tubes are not blocked. I have always had very irregular periods (28-60 days), but with Agnus Castus I've managed to regulate them to some extent and I can usually pinpoint ovulation.

Despite the very long cycles, the fertility clinic won’t let me try Clomid because my progesterone test showed I was ovulating (on cd42)!

Today I was kind of shocked when they said they were going to refer me for IVF. In all these months I haven’t even seen one doctor, all the tests were done by nurses and I’m left with no medical opinion.

Has anyone else gone straight to IVF, no fertility drugs, no IUI?
Has Clomid helped conceive any of you ladies with long cycles?

I am considering asking for a private consultation at this point, I’m just not ready for IVF yet.

Hiya, I am similar to you... I have long cycles - except maybe not as long. Everything came back normal, bloods, tubes etc. and I have also been able to pinpoint ovulation using the clear blue ovulation monitor on some occasions. However the ovulation date has varied and sometimes it hasn’t been detected.
I have been put on clomid this week and I am awaiting my next period before I can start.
I’ve been prescribed 6 cycles and if I do not fall pregnant by September I’m being referred for IVF.
I just thought it may help your case if you’d rather try a medicinal option first?
