Acupuncture and IVF

Has anyone used acupuncture and felt it made a difference to fertility? Or even to period pain as mine are so heavy and painful I pass out and am physically sick from the pain. GP prescribes codeine which helps but they have never tested for endometriosis which my mum had (she ttc me for nearly 12 years!) and I can't help but wonder if this is the cause of our infertility but every time I've mentioned it they are adamant it's not.

We don't have a date for IVF yet as was only referred by GP this month but already have received two appointments by letter with the gynaecologist in February. One in gynaecology department and one on outpatients so no idea what to expect.

37months TTC unexplained sub fertility. I'm 29 DH is 30.

I'm going for my first ever acupuncture session next week with someone who specialises in infertility and IVF.

The price scares me. £65 for the first and then £45 for each session thereafter. And it's recommended for every week.

Is it worth it or am I throwing money away?

Hi Sunshinegirl

Sorry to hear that you are also in the same boat, real crappy boat to be in.

I had fertility acupuncture last year, three sessions last year in Windsor and yes it cost as much as you have stated above. Unfortunately for me, ours is a male factor so cannot personally say about success, it didn’t relax me nor did it alter my cycle length. That being said, I spoke to a couple who were in the waiting area who commenced Acupuncture before they started IVF and they were pregnant.
My sister in law suffered terrible pains and the castor oil pack helped her and her fibroids.
There is a lot of info out there about what can help but I we are all individuals and what work for one may not work for another
