Infertility
Dr's have finally referred us to the fertility clinic!

So happy, we're 2 years in, been trying to get referred from the GP's for a year, and this morning they finally said they'll refer us and I'll get a letter in a few weeks.
They've spent months fobbing us off and sending me for only one test at a time and waiting for the results to come back, then I had to wait for another app to see them about the results and what to do next, then wait for the app for the next test, they are bloody useless.
But hopefully now things should start moving and we'll hopefully have some answers or progress :)
Can anyone tell me what to expect from this next stage now? Anyone else at the same stage?

Yes! Congrats on your referral! It's another ruling ass waiting game in afraid but you are in the right path so hopefully a little less stress for you.
Your consultant may want to duplicate some tests that have already been done but they will look at your case inbetween your appointments (my appointments were every 6months or so) so inbetween they will still be looking into things for you and possibly sending you for tests.
Don't give up! It's a long wait but your foot is firmly in the door now!!! Congrats!!!

Eliza, that's also my experience with the fertility clinic!!

This was the GP's, we've only now been referred to the fertility clinic, hopefully they won't be as useless as the GP's!!!!

Exactly what happened to me- took just over 2 years of 1 test at a time!!! So infuriating 🤯
Once referred it was very quick, It will likely depend on your results but we were referred for 1 extra test - urologist - and then onto the IVF list.

I think they will say we have to lose weight first, before they will help us. Hopefully we can shift the weight before the first app, that's my mission now. I'm starting belly dancing tomorrow

The process from GPs to clinic is horrendous! Took us 5 month.
Once your referred, things move pretty quickly!

I was reading a thread earlier that said things can still take ages with the fertility clinic too. I hope it doesn't. I also read that there is a waiting list for treatment.

I first saw my fertility clinic at the beginning of July. Since then: three appointments, four blood tests, four ultrasounds and fourth month of clomid. They don't seem t care what is wrong with me. The only things that can help infertility are clomid or IVF (or ICSI), so they're not too bothered about tests. I will be referred for IVF in March if the next two clomid cycles don't work (which I just know they won't).
You really need to get your BMI below 30 if you want things to move at anything like pace.
Waiting lists depend on location.

Ok thanks.
I'm working on losing the weight now and hopefully it'll be off by the time we get seen. I'm doing Exante and will then move to clean eating.

Congratulations on your referral I really hope the wait is finally worth it. please do keep us updated on the diagnosis.I'm still stuck here with no refer nothing my doctor won't allow it for me. He thinks that what I've been through there nothing much the infertility doctors can do for me.But I'm still hopeful there must be some treatment for me right? well, the best I can do is hope, I've been a lot of reading about IVF and IMF and I really want to try it out. I really want to have a baby of my own so bad . please keep us updated regarding the diagnosis

That's not right, they should refer you so you get a second opinion from the experts.
Are you in the UK?
