Hi
Have unexplained secondary infertility - amh 8 aged 34.
Had one cycle which unfortunately was unsuccessful.
Been advised to take three months of dhea to improve egg quality.
Anyone got experience of this?

Hi, no experience of this but I'm 31 just having my first cycle of ICSI due to MFI and my AMH is also 8. I did ask my consultant about DHEA who said not recommended and NICE guidelines don't support it so I'm going with their advice for now.

Interested that they've suggested you try it on attempt number 2? What clinic are you at?

Hi. I have had one failed fresh cycle and now changed clinics for my second. When we had our initial appt the consultant did recommend me to take dhea for at least 8 weeks as I have a low amh (1.6 aged 41). This is my 4th week and it’s certainly not doing me any harm! I stupidly googled it and saw lots of hideous side effects but pleased to report I have none!

please can I ask what dosage you are meant to take? DH bought me some over t'internet!

Hi weedance i take 25mg 3 times a day which is what the consultant recommended.

I'm at GCRM in Glasgow. Apparently it has some limited evidence if can produce egg quality. My first cycle I got three embryo's -
2'negative pregnancy tests, 1 positive but miscarried at ten weeks.
Willing to try anything xx

Poor you user I had 2 transferred, both good quality and failed at 9dp5dt. Like I said the tablets certainly are not doing me any harm and if they help me get my first ever bfp then that’s all that matters really.

Be careful with the DHEA, I found it increased my progesterone levels too early in the cycle resulting in my lining thickening prematurely and becoming out of sync with the follicles (something that didn't happen in my successful first cycle). Apparently this is a fairly common side effect of DHEA.

There is also a lot of evidence that points to eggs developing in high progesterone environments are of poorer quality.

Had to do a freeze all cycle in the end, subsequent FET resulted in BFP but m/c at 8 weeks.

I did find that CoQ10 had an incredibly positive effect on embryo quality for me though, are you taking that too?

Ironically the DHEA had lots of positive side effects in day to day life - its technically an anabolic steroid which saw me consistently shaving minutes off my 5K time!

Oh that’s interesting west they never mentioned that to me. It’s so hard isn’t it as whoever you listen to about anything on ivf there’s always a different story!!! Wondering whether to stop it now!! We have our implications appt on 1st feb so May ask them again then.
Yes am on COQ10 too.
So sorry about your mc, how sad for you x
