Anyone had a Frozen Embryo Transfer?

We have 2 frozen embryos from a previous cycle of IVF. We need to decide thus year whether we go for it or lose them.

However, I don't know what a FET entails. Is it very medicated? I'm interested in hearing any experiences.

Thanks.

Hi there I'm due to have a FET next week. I have had two already but both failed unfortunately. You can do medicated cycles or natural cycles and I've done one of each so far and this one is a natural cycle.

Natural cycle at my clinic from day 10 you go in for blood tests every 2 days to find when you are ovulating then the embryo is implanted 5 days later if a 5 day blast (or however many days old the cell was when frozen). Straight after implantation you get a shot of progesterone and basically sent on your way for the 2WW.

Medicated cycle you have to down reg with about 7 days of injections then take tablets to thicken your lining go in for a scan to make sure its thick enough and then again 5 days later for implantation. You also have to do progesterone pessaries and keep taking the tablets from before and do this for about 11 weeks if successful.
My clinic tends to prefer natural cycles and only do the medicated ones if you have irregular cycles. They also claim to have better results with natural cycles.

Hope that helps any other questions feel free to ask and I can try answer them.

I had a successful medicated FET cycle. No injections. Just estrogen pills for about two weeks then progesterone pessaries until 12 week scan. Good luck.

Yes had 2

Both natural. On day of period contacted clinic. They told me what dose of progynova to take. Think was 2 then 4 then 6 a day

Scanned day 12/13 If lining is good /thick then transfer will usually be on day 20 so a week later. In that time you then start using pesseries

2nd fet - 5th try over all was successful and dd is 10mths old almost

Thanks everyone. I'm still very undecided. To be honest, I'm a bit concerned that I might be too old (43). It's hard to decide.

Thanks again.
