IUI 48 hours after ovulation - is there any point?

I’ve got IUI scheduled for tomorrow morning, however I ovulated earlier than expected, on Saturday morning (I wasn’t even supposed to trigger until late Saturday night). I’m just wondering if there is any point in going ahead with the IUI tomorrow if it’s 48 hours after ovulation? The egg will be long gone won’t it?

If you are definitely sure you ovulated Saturday morning then I think it would be a wasted iui. Eggs are only viable for 12-24 hours after ovulation. Is there any chance it could have been later than you think?

That’s what I’m thinking, that it’s just a waste of everyone’s time. I feel my ovulation with a strong pain and took a test to confirm so I didn’t bother doing the trigger shot and we have been DTD when we should have been abstaining for the procedure as decided it was more sensible than missing the window entirely. It’s all gone a bit tits up really Hmm
