DP and testicles

Hi everyone,

I've been a long time posted in the conception section but we went to the GP today for the first time and she said it's possible that the reason we haven't gotten pregnant in the last year is perhaps because when my dp was a child he had a kidney infection and had a catheter and he thinks they had to move his testicles. I don't understand fully what operation He had and he doesn't know if they did drop or lift them or something of that nature. Sorry to sound slightly daft hsre. He had a catheter for a long time. This was when he was 2. He has a scar on one of his testicles.

Does anyone know why this would affect his fertility if this is the case? I don't want to probe too much this evening about it as I don't want to upset him.

I don’t think you’re going to get an answer with that info. If you suspect male factor infertility then probably the best thing to start with is sperm analysis. The GP can organise this if neither of you have had children before.

Thank you bonzo yes it's not really very specific sorry. He's going to have to ask his parents. He has an appointment to give in his SA.
I was just wondering if anyone else's dp who had male fertility problems had also had a catheter.
