Hello last Friday I got put on Metformin due to PCOS & really irregular periods

I start with 500mg a day for 2 weeks
Then 500mg twice a day for 2 weeks
Then 500mg three times a day till feb 2018!

I was just wondering if anyone had any success stories with Metformin

Anyone's AF been regulated with Metformin?

Also so far touch wood I've had none of the side effects from this tablet.

I have been taking metformin scince October 2017 after being told I have PCOS. My last period was in August and not had one scince. It doesnt seem to be doing anything for me so far but I have heard good things about it from other people. Good luck.

I was on Metformin for about a year at 500mg x 3 a day. It didn't regulate my periods and they were still very irregular, however the high dose of Metformin drastically affected my appetite and helped me lose weight (I was overweight due to the PCOS). I eventually got pregnant using Clomid, but the Metformin helped me get down to a healthy weight for fertility treatment x

Ah that's good to know it helped you in the end :)

The only sign of pcos I've got is the cycts on my ovaries & irregular periods! my weight is a healthy weight they have told me when they did my bmi. But now it's making me not want to eat I'm
Worried I might end up losing to much weight :/ xx

Have they explained how met works in that it combats insulin resistance in PCOS women rather than being a direct fertility drug?
I've taken it for 17 years now!
