Juggling work and IVF

I'm starting my IVF cycle in January and am trying to work out how to juggle my job and the treatment. I live around 2 hours from my clinic so popping out at lunchtime isn't an option for me.

I'd be interested to know how others have managed the two? Did you tell your employer? Or take holiday at short notice?

Thanks

I told my empolyer as I would have struggled to get them to give me the appointments off otherwise. They were great about it.

Thanks Wineandcheese, I'm just worried that they won't be very supportive of me.

I guess it depends on what they are like. I took a gamble but felt it was the best option

I took holiday at short notice - mostly in half days - and told them that it was because I had some medical appointments but not to worry because I wasn't deathly ill. It's not been a problem.

I told my line manager but asked her not to tell anyone else. She was / is amazing. I just took the time when I needed & made up the hours by coming in early / working late / working at home. I couldn't have done it otherwise due to the short notice of it I.e. sometimes 48h notice of an appointment or less. Made life a lot easier, was v glad I did as 5 cycles later I would have run out of excuses!
