NHS fertility clinic HARINGEY

Hi there! I’m new to this but TTC with severe Endometriosis and Adenomyisis making this difficult. I’m being referred to a fertility clinic and need to chose one. I’m in Haringey (sadly only one round of IVF available in this borough before you have to pay). I’ve been given options of:

The Whittington
Homerton
North Middlesex
Finchley Memorial

I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for where to chose or where NOT to chose!

I've just been referred to the Whittington for an initial appointment re infertility - have my first appointment on 5 Dec. I'll let you know how it goes!

I think the homerton is the only one which does IVF, so if you think you may need this, then might be better off being referred there directly.

We had a very quick first appointment but that was several years ago now

AnnieRoseB Hi 👋🏼 I been referred to Homerton. Had my egg collection there and now waiting for frozen transfer. Didn’t like the management there but doctors and nurses were very nice. Didn’t have much problems after egg collection either. I am harringay council and homerton was the only option given to me 🤔

I have no personal experience with the clinics but know that Homerton is notorious for one of the lowest IVF success rates in the entire coutry (according to the HFEA website it stands at 16% per embryo transferred for women under 38 and 6% for over-38's). For that reason, I'd prefer to go elsewhere.

I am a Homerton patient - had a fresh cycle in 2015 with 5 embryos created. First fresh transfer failed then I went back for FET where we transferred 2 and one is now my 17 month old DS. I am currently in the 2ww of my latest FET for a sibling!
Obviously I am a bit biased as my treatment was successful but I've been happy with the Homerton. Sometimes appointments run a bit late and some doctors are friendlier than others. They are also a bit 'one size fits all' from what I can gather talking to other ladies on the Fertility Friends website - what I mean by this is that they sometimes keep trying the same type of treatment again and again where some couples might need a more specialised treatment, depending on what the fertility issue is.
They often have trials on i.e. For acupuncture / endo scratch / sperm which suggests to me that they are willing to try things, subject to funding.
I would also recommend choosing somewhere that is convenient for travelling. Good luck.

Thanks for all your comments I’ve decided on the Whittington as although I might need IVF we don’t know yet and I like the Whittington focus on identifying the cause of the infertility first. I’ll keep anyone posted if interested xx

Hey AnnieRose just thought I'd update as I had my appointment at the Whittington today. They were really lovely, and waiting times seem not too bad for the testing bit. I'm booked in for an ultrasound and HSG in December or January (plus more blood) and back to the consultant in Feb to look at all the results.

They confirmed to me that they don't do IVF and I'd end up at the Homerton if we need it, but they do all the bits up to that in the clinic at the Whittington. They did say it was quite a wait for IVF though. Might end up going private if we get to that stage and need it. Hoping they manage to fix it with something sooner! The lady did say quite a lot of women get pregnant after the HSG as it sort of clears things out.
