We already have a 4 year old and conceived quickly the first time. However for the last 2 years my periods have become really irregular. When I do have them the last for about 2 weeks, varying from barely anything to heavy bleeding for the last few days, and then I have a 9-10 day break and then my period is back. We have been trying for a baby for over a year with no luck. I have tried all of the over the counter conception tablets, still no luck. We have tried sex every day, every other day, still nothing. I'm at a loss as to what I can do. Any suggestions? X

What kind of birth did you have with your eldest child? Was it a c-section?

I would approach your GP with the idea of fertility investigations, secondary infertility does happen sometimes for various reasons that may or may not have been present before you conceived your first child.

Sometimes it can just take a while but definitely worthwhile to check things out if you can. Good luck Flowers

yes definitely go and see the GP, get a referral for the gynae clinic. You might need some investigations as your cycles seem way too short for ovulation to reliably take place so it needs looking into. There are drugs they can prescribe to regulate your periods but as you are trying to conceive, it needs more thorough investigation like scans, blood tests etc to see what your ovaries & hormones are doing. I would advise checking in with yr doc to dig deeper. A few friends of mine were in the same shoes. One got pregnant after having acupuncture, the second one via IVF with DE and PGS NGS.

Thank you everyone. I will book an appointment with my GP. When having investigations regarding my irregular cycle they never mentioned the effects on fertility and looking back I realise I silly I have been not bringing it up sooner. Thank you again x
