Recent PCOS Diagnosis

Hi everyone
Im in my 20's and just got diagnosed with PCOS. I'm struggling to come to terms with this news as I've always wanted to be a mother and we've just started ttc. (We're on cycle 3)
I have very irregular periods but no other symptoms.
I was told today that just one of my ovaries is polycystic and the other one is fine.
Does anyone have any expertise on my chances of conceiving naturally, I feel like I'm completely lost in this area

I've had this. Had my first child easily enough but I've never in my life had a regular cycle. After trying for over a year for baby 2 I was sent for tests and also diagnosed with pcos. I wasn't ovulating. So they gave me Clomid to get that going again.
Anyway long story short the Clomid didjt do a lot and I took up running. I went on to lose a lot of weight and had 2 more babies conceived naturally.

Yes! I have exactly this. One wonky ovary and one borderline. Irregular periods but also unexplained weight gain, cystic acne and unwanted hair :( Still, that was mild compared to some ladies, so I wasn’t eligible for medical treatment for the PCOS, but as we’d bern TTC for years, we did get a referral for fertility treatment.

In the meantime, the best advice I got was diet diet diet. Plant based as much as possible. NO sugar, at all, incl. alcohol, and minimal carbs. I got pregnant after about 5 months of trying diet based management, sadly it ended in ectopic. If it’s mild, a good dietician should be able to help you. All is not lost :) You still have good odds!

What do you mean by naturally? There's no reason for ivf at this point but some medic intervention would probably benefit you. A lot of ladies with PCOS get prescribed Metformin and Clomid so speak to your doctor about it. And as pp said - the right diet is very important.

I meant without any medications first, im not opposed to using them of course
But as I'm in my early 20s, I'm a bit reluctant, I want to see what happens first (try some life style changes) but I was curious to what other people have experienced themselves.
And my diet is definitely the first change I'm going to make

Pcos is really common with Indian women (most of my family has it). You really need to follow your Gaenocologist’s advice. If you have severe pcos the pill could actually help control your hormones and reduce the number of cysts on your ovaries as a result, as you’re young enough for it to work. Are you overweight? If so then the next step is to lose weight (don’t be too concerned by the specific diet) and don’t fall into the trap of thinking you need very low cal because of pcos - if you’re reasonably active you can lose weight on 1600-2000 calories per day.
