Infertility
What to say to GP
topcat2014 · 28/09/2017 18:12
So, DW and I have decided IVF is required. (45 / 43, one DC(10) but nothing since) - and will be paying privately, not expecting anything else.
However, the clinic we have chosen needs us to be referred by our GP.
I am ridiculously nervous of this appointment - and have no idea what to say to not come across as some kind of idiot.
Any pointers much appreciated.

Nothing to be worried about. Just say exactly what you've told us. That you're suffering secondary infertility and are aware that there would be no funding available so you have found a private clinic and require a referral. I've not heard of a clinic requiring a referral, but I imagine the doctor will write a letter explaining your situation and that no testing has been done. They may charge you for a letter, just to warn you.
Wishing you lots of luck x

Thanks - I suppose I just have a fear of being told I am being silly..
(always had a bit of a doctor 'phobia', even though they tend to be younger than me now)
