TTC and testicular torsion

Hi! My OH and I are aiming to ttc in the next few months and I wanted to know if anyone here has had any experience with ttc and testicular torsion. My OH had testicular torsion in one testicle when he was 15. The testicle was saved but he was told it may affect his fertility. He obv didn't ask questions being so young, and I've tried dr Google but haven't found much info on how much it affects conceiving! I know you can have SA but my OH is already convinced he may be infertile so I don't want to bring up SA before we even try as it confirms I have doubts as well!
Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this!

Sorry to hear of your current worries op.

I have no experience of your issue but I would urge you to encourage your OH to go for SA. It could be that there is no issue, but if there is then surely better to know in advance? You don't want to waste months/years potentially fruitlessly ttc. Your mental health will suffer too much in that scenario.

I appreciate it's scary, but it really is better to know. Tbh I would go so far as to tell OH I wouldn't start ttc until he had the SA. It sounds drastic to say that, but you have to think of your own mental wellbeing. You also don't want to be wasting time (depending on your age of course)

I wish you all the bestSmile

And you're allowed to have doubts. It's only natural given the circumstances. Your OH already does, so face those doubts together! Hopefully they will turn out to be groundless.

Sorry for the late reply isthis. Yes you're right - I manned up and spoke to OH about this the other day. I mentioned taking wellman etc in the run up to ttc but he was very insistent he wants to conceive of his own accord Hmm. He's also not willing to get SA unless it hasn't happened for a while; so we shall have to see!

It's only anecdotal of course, but my brother had this when he was quite a bit younger and him and his partner conceived very quickly.

That is frustrating to read Swan Well done for having the conversation though.

With regards to the vitamins- he should be taking them anyway if you're ttc. Sperm quality is very important. It's no different to you taking your conception vitamins. I'd be pretty pissed offer with him tbh. Tell him if he's serious about trying to make a baby then he needs to think about these things. It's important for the man to have a decent diet/take his vitamins/cut back on smoking and drinking (if he does those things of course)

Does he realise this? I'm always aghast at men who won't even take a sodding vitamin pill once a day. I've read it so many times on forums and it always staggers me.

Grind it up and put it in his good when he's not lookingWink

If the torsion was only in one testicle though he should theoretically have at least one working one. That's all you need for a baby. Good luckSmile

My DS had a testicle torsion at birth, the testicle couldn't be saved, he is only 12 now but his consultant at the time said it wouldn't be a problem conceiving as the other testicle is fine!

Hi there, my boy was born without any testicles and his age 10. We had an appointment at hospital today and they won't to start treatment in June, gel hormones. Have u been threw this with that or other treatments? How is ur son now?
Thank u for reading this, I have tried getting information but come unstuck.
Telling my boy he will never be able to have biological kids broke him but he said I can give more love to someone who's parents didn't wana love them. My heart broke in pieces.
