Last natural attempt before IVF?

This may be a silly question!

We have our 1st consultation for IVF on Wednesday, with a view to starting IVF later this month (unless consultant says otherwise.)

However, I'll be ovulating in next day or so and wondered if it is ok to TTC naturally one last time? I don't know heaps about when my medication etc would start but wasn't sure if you start it before your AF is due (and therefore shouldn't possibly be pregnant?) or on the 1st day of your cycle. I would ask our consultant but I will be past ovulation by the time we see her!

If it's your first consultation I'm sure you will be fine. We kept trying up until then and treatment started after a cycle had finished. Good luck!

Any IVF attempt would begin on day 1 of your next cycle I would think. I doubt you would start treatment mid-cycle.

Thank you, it would be amazing, wouldn't it, if it happened naturally when we were due to start IVF! Not holding much hope out for that but it's good to know we can have one more try!

We tried until the very end too. I also started my meds on CD 1 so there can't have been an overlap.

I didn't start mess until day 1 so go for it! I actually got pregnant whilst waiting to start although then had a mc. Had a successful ivf a few months later though. Good luck x

It might depend on what protocol the consultant recommends. When I did long protocol I started the cycle on day 21 (so a few days before period due). On short protocol I started meds on day 3 (so post period, def not pregnant). They did a scan prior to commencing treatment, I'm not sure whether that would have shown up an early stage pregnancy?

Might just be worth asking the consultant just to make doubly sure. Good luck!
