IVF September/October 2017

Filipinam · 02/09/2017 09:18

Hi Ladies! Finally I will have my first IVF treatment as soon as my next cycle starts which I expect it to be more or less end of September/beginning of October. My periods are very irregular so I never know exactly. My consultant suggested antagonist protocol which I will receive in post soon. I am extremely excited but then realistic about the fact that it might not be successful first time.

How are you feeling ladies? When are you due to start your Ivf Journey? Fingers crossed for all of us fighters;-)

Minster, we were told no perfume for egg collection but deodorant was ok. Apparently it's to do with tbe alcohol in the perfume and the room where they do the collection is right next door to the embryology section.

I hope you're able to get your transfer done soon, sending lots of 'thick' thoughts to your friend, x

Starlumiere · 26/10/2017 11:02

Minster the hairdresser? You go girl and pamper yourself. Sorry to hear about your friend's lining not being ready, but I guess it is a good thing they are monitoring for the best approach/ results Smile.

Pessaries up the bum, check and thank you!

I loovvvve dogs and had to leave my black lab to my ex husband as he was a present for him. It was in actual fact harder to leave the dog than my ex Confused. Now that I am all settled we really want a puppy but I was thinking later but reading all of your posts makes me want to get one now!!! I love anilmals so much, but dogs they are so wonderful!!!

Aliona19 · 26/10/2017 11:05

Starlumiere hey. I have pessaries too and just like you it says back side. Some people say it’s less mess and you don’t need to lay down for half hour after inserting them. So I guess it’s better to do as we told 😆

Starlumiere · 26/10/2017 11:08

Aliona thank you, indeed, I will do as I am told Smile. Where are you in the process? Still waiting for the phone call?

Aliona19 · 26/10/2017 11:09

RoseWrites See that’s wrong. In my case it was their mistake and yet I got shouted at. If she was talking calm it would have been different story. But to go private and still not to get good service that’s wrong!! Even hairdressers offer cup of tea 😤 name and shame them 😂

Aliona19 · 26/10/2017 11:12

God this chat moving too fast today 😅 I just posted one message and there is 10 new ones already 😆
Starlumiere Yes waiting for any instructions but not going to call. It’s month worth of injections so I am sure they won’t be calling me until December.
As for pessaries when they did EC they put something up our bum 😁 and it was not messy at all, smell is horrendous though 🙊 so loads of nappies for us 😅😅

Aliona19 · 26/10/2017 11:13

Starlumiere Get one! Pets r great 🙃

Atikakck · 26/10/2017 11:31

Starlumiere · 26/10/2017 11:37

Aliona it is my fault with all my posting sorry !! Grin Pessaries horrendous smell really? Yep, nappies it is then!!

Atik bless you sweetie. Did they gave you additional vitamins to take then or told you to eat more Vit D food? I find Fertility Reflexology remarquable for stress. I don't remember much as I snore 2 minutes in, but man I feel great after !!! Smile

Atikakck · 26/10/2017 11:53

Star - a normally taking pregnacare before conception nd doctor gave me prescription for vitamin D nd sed a need take them for one month xxx

RoseWrites · 26/10/2017 12:05

I'm glad I'm not a diva about the tea! :)

Star they said I had five on one side, I'm not sure if they said (or maybe I wasn't paying attention) about the other side. I have no idea if that is low or normal? (I try not to google much so i end up having zero idea what is happening most of the time!). My stomach feels so weird though, I might call the clinic tomorrow if it still feels like this.

Minster i will defo get a dog one day. I rescued two cats and I think they'd lose their sh*t if a dog moved in! Sorry to hear about your friend. Has the clinic given any clarity on what it will end/move on? The waiting must be awful.

Starlumiere · 26/10/2017 12:33

Atik good, you are on your way then!! Check food strong in Vit D as well I am sure it will help a great deal Smile

Rose yes do stay away from googling! Grin From the lovely ladies on here we learned to go through the process and each of us are different. You have 5 which is great after the Stims you will probably have more Smile. How weird? Like bloating weird?

RoseWrites · 26/10/2017 13:04

Star i can't really explain it. First thing this morning I thought it was maybe just 'trapped wind'so headed to the loo (sorry tmi) but that didn't help. It feels like I'm really full (even though I haven't had much to eat), like I've been punched in the stomach, and that i've got an elastic band across my stomach. I appreciate that doesn't make much sense. I can't imagine it is because of the drugs as i only started taking them last night! So maybe it is something I've eaten. Weird. I think I might slope off home soon and lie on the sofa with a hot water bottle...

How are you feeling?

Starlumiere · 26/10/2017 13:13

I am good in the plane and costed all my meds coming to a price of £1,801 instead of £2,500 so I am smiling!! Grin. Through Asda of course! I tried to stay away from babies clothes as well... in plane now.

Rose not been through the meds yet so don't know how it should actually feel, but from all the lovely ladies in here it varied and a lot of them did say it is a very strange sensation. Some I remember started to feel strange as early as 1 or 2 days after....nevertheless yes, do call the Clinic if you feel the need to. You paid for the service and the flipping TEAS! Ha!!! What do you reckon ladies for the ones who have been through the injections already. Do you identify to Rose's description?

Hang in there sweetie Bear

Aliona19 · 26/10/2017 15:10

Rose my belly is flat but during injections I got really bloated. Will attach a pic
It’s on day 6. Also in the morning I was fine but by 3/4 in the evening I was bloated and felt like I need a giant fart (sorry) but nothing was happening. If this helps x

harry78 Hey. What do u mean “if urine test is positive and a smile with a wink?” 😁 did u do it?! Bet u did. Beta test I reckon it’s blood test. They show if embryo is developing. This human hormone is rising each day, this means it’s good. Bcoz urine test can show chemical pregnancy too. Think that’s what it is x

Aliona19 · 26/10/2017 17:12

Where to go, after I had my urine test positive, I went to Gp for blood tests

Minster2012 · 26/10/2017 17:35

The beta tests are a blood test that a lot of clinics (certainly private clinics) offer to measure the level of hcg in your blood developing in your pregnancy. Hcg is the pregnancy hormone and it usually doubles every 48 hours which would signify a viable pregnancy. My NHS clinic don't even offer blood test to confirm pregnancies as it meant ppl hanging waiting for a horrible phone call which gives the same reliable result at the point of 2 weeks as peeing on a stick. They class it as a confirmed pregnancy 3 weeks later at scan. So I don't get a beta test either, though I'm sure I could pay them to do one privately in between. If it quadruples then you're likely having twins if you put in 2 embryos it's a good indicator of that before the scan!

otters2017 · 26/10/2017 17:49

You lot are a right chatty bunch Smile so much to catch up on! Not much going on with me apart from hoping that embryo is implanting inside.

star welcome to the group. Good luck with your treatment. You're in the right place for tips and support and chat.

minster slow and steady wins the race. It's good to know that your clinic is being thorough. Fingers crossed for ET next week. I've not had a progesterone blood test but my lining was good on the last scan so hope that's ok.

rose hurrah for moving on to the next stage!

aliona 6 frosties is great! Hope you don't have to wait too long for transfer. The passport thing with the hospital sounds horrendous. Glad it's all sorted now.

harry I'm glad the spotting has stopped. Do we have the same otd ? 1st nov? Did you test early?! Tell us!

dinksandbinks glad your OHSS is improving. Good luck for the scan tomorrow. How many weeks are you now?

hardy im testing the day before you. I've taken some time off work as want to be as relaxed as possible and give myself the best chance possible.

atik get on the vit d!

filip good luck for test day. Not long now ... I can totally emphatise with the mixture of emotions! It's a real rollercoaster!

elizabeth how are you doing?

Ps star and minster and anyone else that asked - I can confirm that the pessaries up the bottom is no mess and not as bad as you think. Definitely messy round the front so get some party liners or buy new knickers !

Dbear35 · 26/10/2017 18:06

Hi All,

I'm a newbie to IVF and to this forum so Hello!

Just wanted to say thanks, thanks to all for making me feel like i'm not going crazy during this IVF journey and that whatever i'm feeling, thinking I know there are other women thinking and feeling the same.

You all are IVF warriors and are amazing, keep the positive vibes and supportive words. (star)

Little bit about me, my DH and I have been TTC for 3 years, all investigations for both of us point to unexplained infertility. #frustrating!

I started my meds on 30th September and after my second scan during stims I had 16 follys!
22
21
2x18
3x16
15
2x14
13
12
2x 9

The nurse didn't seem hugely impressed but from reading articles I think these numbers are ok right?

I took my trigger shot at 9.20pm last night, weirdly enough surrounded by my mum, bro and step dad lol.

Tomorrow I go for EC, and I am petrified, nervous and excited all at once It feels like it's taken forever to get to this point and now im here im scared!

Eakkkk!

Aliona19 · 26/10/2017 18:13

Dbear35 hello 👋🏼 Best of luck tomorrow. It’s really fine, the EC. As you can read here some girls had some side effects but in general it’s ok and actual procedure is absolutely fine. As for follicles, I think they want them to be over 16/17 in size, so maybe that’s why she wasn’t impressed. You still have 7 or 8 of good size. As you can see here, some girls get pregnant with just a few eggs retrieved. Best of luck

Aliona19 · 26/10/2017 18:16

otters2017 Yep fingers crossed it’s sticking to you nicely 😁 I don’t mind waiting for transfer, plus xmas is coming, possibly holiday if I am lucky. So even if it’s over 2 month it’s fine. Just not knowing the date is annoying 😖

Dbear35 · 26/10/2017 18:19

Aliona Thank you for reassurance about the EC much needed, I need to stop being a wimp I know.

Ah ok that makes me feel a better, I thought that maybe they took me off stims to early and if I had carried on until tomorrow then I have had bigger ones. Hmm

Aliona19 · 26/10/2017 18:24

Dbear35 at the end of the day-they r specialist and should know what’s best. No one gave me any option to carry on or not, they just told me what and when.
For me EC was pain free, they sedate me before they even take my knickers off 😆 so no lost dignity there as I was not aware of anything. Last thing I remember being covered with blanket chatting to some guys 😅
