Went to the hospital yesterday for polyp removal, and the consultant said he was concerned that my symptoms don't match polyp removal.
No bleeding 7 Feb to 22 April, then 53 day period which only stopped with prescription of tranexamic acid. Had one eight day period at the end of June, and nothing since.
Prior to this, I had a short cycle (24 day). I've also had terrible mood swings for the past couple of years, particularly since these menstruation issues have started. I go from angry to happy to sad in the blink of an eye.
I asked about fertility at the end of the point, as we were planning to start TTC in the next couple of years. I'm only 28 and thought I had options. He didn't use these words, but what he described was premature ovarian failure. They both pulled a serious, sympathetic face when I asked about fertility, and the atmosphere up until this point had been quite jovial. I have a 6cm cyst on one ovary, but no evidence of anything being polycystic.
I'm having blood tests for FSH, LH, Androgen Profile, Prolactin and Thyroid FTS. I think my thyroid has been checked previously. Because there is a wait to see if the polyp is benign, I'm expecting to hear about both at the same time, and waiting for a month will be torture.
Any experience of these symptoms/advice/ideas of what I can do? We would be willing to abandon all our plans to start TTC now if need be, but feel it's probably best to wait and see what the results bring.
