Baby aspirin

4 years TTC, PCOS, 2x failed IVF and all the treatments which come before..at NO point has baby aspirin been recommended or mentioned. I had read about it of course in the many thousand hours I have spent researching infertility on the internet but never really paid much attention to it...

I started taking one tablet a day last week. Does anyone take this? What are the results? Do you believe the hype from some camps that is it helpful? Any info or experiences would be helpful as This is now my new obsession......

I started it for my current fet cycle (transfer on Friday). No idea if it'll help but you can't go wrong for the £1.59 I spent on it!! It can help the lining quality as reduces clotting. If you have fertility issues it's not going to make any difference, I've mostly read about it being used during ivf to help lining. Good luck x

Thanks Scottishgirl. That is exactly what I'm using it for. I've had 2 IVF cycles and was never prescribed this (I am switching clinics for my next attempt but that's another story). My lining has been as thin as 3mm in some cycles and it is infuriating. I agree - small change and I'm willing to try anything! My thinking is that if it can prevent strokes and heart attacks it must be quite effective?!

Best of luck with your FET Flowers

I started it 2 failed cycles in, but only after egg collection.

Think there's some evidence for it, but it's not massively conclusive.

TipsNotHacks · 07/08/2017 22:30

Thanks EarlGrey. Just as I thought. I think I'll continue with it. Ultimately, its 75mcg (normal aspirin is 300mcg) so it can't do much harm. And it can hardly make me any LESS pregnant Grin

My first fresh cycle failed.
For my second fresh cycle I did everything the same except added vitamin D and baby aspirin and had the scratch. I had a chemical.
Will be having my first FET in around a month and plan to have the scratch again, and to keep taking the vitamin D and baby aspirin.
All these changes were a result of online research - my clinic are so conservative they won't suggest anything at all.

When did you start taking the baby aspirin? I'm due to start my next fet soon, DR starts on 20th Aug and I'm having a scratch on 16th Aug.

Thanks

I took asprin 75mg a day after 3 miscarriges and finally got past 20 weeks. Would not have my daughter i believe without taking it. Took it all through my pregnancy up to the week before she was born. It does not work for everyone i know but i got so low would have tried anything. Best of luck

TipsNotHacks · 08/08/2017 20:06

Thanks Mumtoru, that's encouraging.

Hopeful - I don't think that question was for me but I THINK some clinics recommend you start taking it after ER.

Thanks @TipsNotHacks I'm having a frozen transfer so maybe I'll start taking them 5 days before the transfer? Would be the same timeframe as after ER.

Hollyandtheiveee · 08/08/2017 20:36

I was recommended to take it by my clinic after multiple failed cycles, along with other recommendations. But only after egg collection as it thins the blood and you don't want to risk bleeding during egg collection.

geeup · 08/08/2017 20:47

I took it every day from the start of downregging. I didn't take one the morning of egg collection or embryo transfer but otherwise took every day.

EarlGreyT · 08/08/2017 21:00

Hopeful for a medicated FET cycle, I started the aspirin at the same time as the oestrogen supplements which was roughly 17 days before the transfer. For fresh cycles I started after egg collection so only 3 days before transfer.

That's great, thanks @EarlGreyT for that info, I'm doing FET so I'll starts as you mentioned when I take my progynova. Smile
