Infertility counselling

I'm feeling very tearful this morning as I can tell my period is going to make an appearance (again Sad)

I think I need to talk to someone as the limbo of my life and constant disappointment is becoming very hard to bear.*

Has anyone else found counselling helped and, if anyone is in London, can you recommend anybody? I'm wondering if I need to find someone who specialises in infertility, rather than a general counsellor?

*Sorry for feeling completely sorry for myself!

Sorry to hear this. I have posted recently about my counselling sessions for infertility. I have only had two sessions so far and although I don't think anything will ever stop the desperate need I have for a baby, I just wanted to establish some coping strategies.

I'm not based in London but I went to a highly experienced counsellor who specialises in grief but also had experience in IF. Ultimately, you are experiencing constant grief so I don't think it matters too much if they're not specifically IF counsellors. You may be able to find a specialist IF counsellor in London though.

Good luck Flowers

Sorry to hear you're going through this. I found counselling really helpful for infertility. I am based in London, but had phone counselling sessions through my employer's assistance program, think it was through Bupa. My counsellor was brilliant and I actually liked that it was by phone as I felt less awkward. Mine was general not specialist but I still found it so helpful.

Thanks so much both of you.

TipsNotHacks that's exactly what I need...coping strategies/new ways of thinking about my situation etc. I'll look for your thread.

Sorry you're going through this. Infertility is utter rubbish.

I haven't tried counselling yet but my clinic (NHS) does offer counselling for any patient. Have you had any studies done yet? I believe after two years TTC you generally qualify for some investigations. I found that helped me with feeling so helpless.

xx

Hi meadowlark3 yes me and DH have had all the tests and have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. This diagnosis makes us feel even more helpless really! Been TTC for 18 months and I am 38. Never been pregnant. Going to look at IVF next as time is running out.
