Infertility

Reporting suspicious & infertility advertising

Hi all,

I'm sure you've all seen the influx of cruel and targeted advertising of services and 'miracle' treatments for infertility across the MN infertility, surrogacy & DC boards for clinics in the Ukraine recently. Does anyone know of a higher authority that we can report this to? Not only is it a waste of our time but is also completely disgusting prying on vulnerable people.

Does anyone know if it's worth reporting to the HFEA or straight to the clinic directly. Otherwise keep up the good work relating these idiots!!

It it was scam preying on vulnerable people maybe could report it..but if they are actually offering what they say it cant be classed as fraud and a scam.

I would maybe suggest to talk to the clinic directly and say we can see through this and no one will use their clinic and Its doing the opposite effect.

Well, they are pretending to be who they are not so yes, it is a fraud and a scam. They pretend to be clients or friends/family of clients - not employees or paid advertisers of the clinic involved and relentlessly post on threads they have started under other names (eg 'fertility clinic' and 'INFERTILITY ISSUES') to bring them up to the top, even after their other usernames have been banned. God knows why they do this last thing, it only makes their new usernames obvious.

It's a Ukrainian clinic, though, so I can't see what the HFEA could do.

I am tempted to contact the clinic directly (from my 'spam me up, baby!' email address, natch) and tell them in no uncertain terms that these posts have ensured I would never use their services. Might make a difference, you never know.

I agree It's not a bad idea. What might increase the likelihood of them taking notice of you is to also tell them that their posts have also ensured you would go out of your way to advise others not to use their services and to avoid them like the plague.
