When to start clomid

Hi

My consultant prescribed clomid for me as I said I would like to exhaust all other options before looking at ivf. He basically said OK but that it's not going to work, it's an exercise in futility and that it would be a minor medical miracle if I managed to conceive without ivf due to the extensive issues. Issues caused by the hospital, but that's a different story.

I'm to start on day two of my cycle. Period due today so day two is tomorrow, right?

Period has shown up today, which is the first time it's been regular all year, except it's a little off. It's light with cramps on one side, not across my abdomen and it's brownish.

Do I just start clomid as planned, or should I wait until next month to see what my period does then?

I'd see how today pans out, if you feel you have a proper flow then start tomorrow I think.

Though I'd also say it's always good to do a pregnancy test as even if it is highly unlikely you never know and Clomid is not good to take of you are pregnant!

I think I'm going to have to go out and get one. Period seems to have disappeared. Still have some cramping though. I'm trying not to get any hopes, considering the consultants opinion.
