IVF advice please (low ovarian reserve)

Hi,

My partner and I have been trying unsuccessfully to have our first child. I've seen a doctor (Q2 2016) who advised I have a low egg count, we have now decided to go down the IVF route.

I haven't used contraception for about 8 years so you could say I've been trying naturally for 8 years, the results of the tests I had last year were as follows:

  • progesterone level 1.53 ng/mL
  • amh level 1.29 which puts me into the low fertility bracket

I'm 39 and he is 40, he has two children from a previous relationship, I have none.

I understand that low ovarian reserve makes IVF more tricky as you respond less well to the drugs. Doesn't mean it can't work though, but it's worth getting a clinic who can work with us and tailor things to our needs.

The problem is that finding a clinic is a minefield!

Can anyone recommend anywhere within 50 miles of the Teesside area based on experience please?
Any other tips would also be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Charly

Hello Charly,
I'm afraid that I am not familiar with a clinic in your neck of the woods but it might be worth looking at Create in Manchester? They are often flagged up when it comes to IVF treatment for low ovarian reserve and we were impressed with a recent open evening that we attended at the St Pauls branch. I'm hoping that others may know of somewhere a little closer to home for you as even with my fairly poor grasp of geography, I fear that Manchester is rather far afield! Good luck!
