IVF Appointments Advice

I'm due to start IVF with egg collection in September. My manager is trying to be flexible but finding this difficult as I don't know when everything will happen & what days I will need off?

I tried to get holiday/time off but unable too.

Does anyone have any tips/suggestions with regards to work and IVF cycles? My job is fast paced and stressful - I work 12 hour shifts. All help and advice appreciated!

Unfortunately, you basically aren't going to know exactly what time you will need off until very close to the time.

Is your clinic nearby, or will you need to travel? You'll have fairly frequent monitoring scans, but they're pretty quick so if it's nearby you may be able to work with your clinic/job to time them to minimise the impact. With 12 hour shifts it's unlikely you can do them before/after work, but maybe fit them in on a break?

The exact date of your egg retrieval won't be determined until shortly beforehand, although in my case my clinic we able to give me a rough 'it'll be Friday or Monday but probably Friday' as we got closer. You'll definitely need the whole day of your retrieval off because of the sedation, and some women find they take longer to recover (especially if you have a larger number of eggs retrieved).

For embryo transfer, again this doesn't take terribly long but the date will depend on a) when you had your retrieval and b) whether your clinic only do day 5 transfers or if they do day 3 or 5 depending on how the embryos are progressing.

Sorry it's all causing such a conundrum, hope you get it sorted with work.
